1. A radio preacher is counseling Bush?

The Religious Right's New Kingmaker, by Michael Crowley.....in part...Dobson earned the title. He proselytized hard for Bush this last year, organizing huge stadium rallies and using his radio program to warn his 7 million American listeners that not to vote would be a sin. Dobson may have delivered Bush his victories in Ohio and Florida. He's already leveraging his new power. When a thank-you call came from the White House, Dobson issued the staffer a blunt warning that Bush "needs to be more aggressive" about pressing the religious right's pro-life, anti-gay rights agenda, or it would "pay a price in four years." And when the pro-choice Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter made conciliatory noises about appointing moderates to the Supreme Court, Dobson launched a fevered campaign to prevent him from assuming the chairmanship of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which until then he had been expected to inherit. Dobson is now a Republican kingmaker.

I was a little rushed with this one this morning. I usually find my quote and an accompanying pic the night before posting. I had so little time this morning, I had to settle for another dig at the charlatans and snake-oil salesmen passing themselves off as Christians. I've already done two so far; one for Falwell and one for 2,000-pound-leg-press-Marion.

I mean, don't get me wrong; I'll always have a go at what Harlan Ellison calls the "sanctimonious hallelujah patriots", but I'm trying to widen the field of right-wing targets.

I remember laughing at the antics of Falwell, Swaggart, Robertson, Tilton (well, ok, I still laugh at Tilton) years ago, and then later at Dobson. I don't laugh at them anymore.
