3. When I grew up, I heard the other version _a lot_ more often,

and on the rare occasion when someone commented about a guy's physical appearance changing, it was usually followed by a slap at his wife, i.e. "He's really put on the weight since they got married. Doesn't _she_ know how to cook anything healthy?" :eyes:

I want to point out, though, that in the case of both criticisms, it's usually women making these remarks, whether they're talking about a man or a woman. Sad, sad, sad.

6. what is it in our chemistry that leads us to do this to each other?
we can be so "catty" MEOW and our claws are SHARP...maybe it is the estrogen?

15. Actually, if you google the two phrases
"he really let himself go" gets about 100 more hits than "she really let herself go".

So I don't really think this perceived inequality exists.
