Or do they see us as walking wallets? (Note Coca-Cola is in there... they've had an incident or two of not being people-friendly, which has me inclined to think that if they abuse workers and such, why would they care about what a person is unless there's profit in it and you know what they say about gay people and money...)

If it's a for-profit company, they view everybody as walking wallets.
Not that it's necessarily a bad thing. It makes them predictable.

They just want non-heteros to feel wanted... while they abuse workers (as is the case with Coke; the issue tied to the corporation may vary, but I've yet to deal with a blueshirt best buy employee even remotely competent (or anything else than buff either, holy marketing)...)
