2. I'm listening to "An American Prayer" by Jim Morrison
That's how it begins.

Anyway, I talked to Priyanka. We don't have any set plans, but she told me to give her a call when I leave my house to head into the city tommorow. She'll meet up with me. Probably around 14th street. Do you want me to give you a call when I leave too?

8. On "Absolutely Live" that little rant preceded the famous
"Dead Cats, Dead Rats" version of "Break on Through," a song which has made me exceedingly popular at Karaoke at the Alibi Tiki Lounge.

13. The guy I'm with in this photo was also made very famous by...
doing the Doors at karaoke, except we were at "Tavern Off the Green" in Morristown, NJ, a seedy little place filled with what colombian drug dealers and Japanese grad students. The photo was taken on the porch of a place I lived in Madison though. I have the most insane ash going on in this photo.

Slater also believes he's the reincarnation of Jim Morrison.

18. It's been long flicked.
That pic is from two years ago, but isn't it amazing how it defies gravity like that? That ash was giving a big FUCK YOU to gravity.

22. Yup.
Man, I miss that guy. Maybe this summer, I'll drive out into the desert and visit him. We were such a dangerous combo. That's a calm photo. Thank God there were no cameras at my Absinthe Weekend party.

6. Those lines were also in "The Celebration of the Lizard"
on this double-LP from the Doors called Absolutely Live. I think that entire album was later combined with other live Doors stuff onto a double-CD set.

"The Celebration of the Lizard" was some 17 minute live performance piece (or something) that was unbearable unless you made the resolute decision to become obsessed with it. My high school friend Mike and I made that resolute decision. And so used to roll around our little shit town in his dark green Camaro (christened "The Doorsmobile") listening to "The Celebration of the Lizard" so much that we both unwittingly memorized it and could quote it at will.

Needless to say, we were both exceedingly popular with our other classmates.

"An Ode to Jack Kerouac" by HST a couple years ago.
