Have I mentioned lately how much I love where I live?
Last night, right after sunset, the fields were full of lightening bugs. There's constantly a breeze and the temperature is just about perfect. The birds are always singing and an occasional train goes by.

:)

2. My dear lizziegrace!
That just sounds wonderful, sweetie!

Will those conditions apply in August?

I forgot to ask you about temperatures.......how hot and/or humid is it likely to be?

Probably high on both, huh?

Omigod, I cannot fucking wait!

:woohoo: :woohoo:

:loveya:

I need to go by AAA pronto! Later, baby!

3. LOL!!
"Omigod, I cannot fucking wait!"

Me either!

Sometimes we get a break in early August from the heat. Plan on high 80's during the day and high 60's-70's at night.

If it's hot, it'll be humid. :(

Later baby!

5. If you wanted to make me jealous,
you succeeded.

Haven't seen lightning bugs in a coon's age.

10. Stop, you cruel person!
Haven't seen them since going through Arkansas, on my way from Texas to Massachussets, 10 years ago!

Just kidding about the crying!

I am so happy to know that fireflies are still around, even if I don't get to see them myself.

There's a different kind of firefly where I was raised, they have two light organs on the shoulders, rather than a single one in the belly.

12. Sounds beautiful
I'm pretty happy with my little home, too. Trees all around, many of them Redwoods. Lots of birds as well as deer (there are some adorable, very small fawns - small enough to have lots of spots - right now), nice weather and it smells wonderful.

It's good to be content in your surroundings. :)

13. It is beautiful
When so much of life is insane, it's nice to find tranquility at home.

14. Ohio is a wonderful place
Politics notwithstanding. Not much different, climate-wise, than
Alabama this time of year.

I'm home on vacation till 7/7, and I was outside last night on
a smoke break(can't smoke in the house due to the kids).

Anyway, a male whipoorwill was singing up a storm in the oak
tree in our front yard. I hope the little guy got lucky:)

Reminded me so much of summer nights during my childhood.

15. Childhood summers
I miss them. Catching lightening bugs and putting them in jars. Poking the holes too big so they light up the hallway all night. :) Roller skating, piling into a wagon and racing down the hill only to get dumped out when we hit the curb. Days like this I wish I was little again. :)
