"Today"'s Ann Curry recommends eating "a brocolli"
During a lame segment on good carbs and bad carbs, Ann Curry hosted an untitled expert who quoted un-named nutritionists (btw "nutritionist" is a meaningless term; it is a self-applied term that does not require the certification of a dietician or registered dietician). Ann was shocked (though it might have just been the botox) to find out that "vegetables like tomatoes are carbs!?"

She went on to enlighten America with the advice that "eating a brocolli...(is better than) processed white bread with no fiber." While vegetable in their natural state seem to confuse the wide-eyed Curry, I must confess that I am confused by The Today Show...

They say things like 'next up JK Rowling promotes her next book but first this is Today on NBC' and then they go to commercials. So the commercials are 'Today'? They don't say 'we'll be back after these messages' -- they say the opposite.

1. From a broadcasters point a view..
It is standard practice to alert the affiliates you are breaking away with a standard outcue... say the same thing everytime, and they know it's their turn to run local news or ads or what
On "Today' the standard outcue is ... "This is 'Today' on NBC"

2. a tomato is vegetable?
Ann Curry seems like a decent gal but I bet if you stand real close to her head you can hear the ocean waves through her ear(s).

5. Broccoli has more fiber than Wonderbread?
Why, the things I could learn on morning TV. :sarcasm:

Interesting about nutritionist vs. dietician. Hadn't heard that before. I DO learn things on morning DU.

6. I used to watch the "Today" show faithfully every day.
I shut it off years ago. Katie Couric's ugly, shit-eating grin, Ann Curry's fluff-and-fold intellect, Al Roker's painful banality, and Matt Lauer's...well...EVERYTHING, just sickened me.

I remember just after September 11, 2001, Katie Couric dicussing the tragedy, and remembering to be cheerful and upbeat for the coffee-and-newspaper viewers, (as almost certainly mandated in her contract). She said something like "Planes into Twin Towers. What up with that? Whoda thunk?" I elected to turn the TV off rather than throw it out the window at such awful, creepy inappropriateness.
