5. Tolkein ran short on women.
I first read LOR when I was 10; 3 and something decades ago. And have always been a fan. But there weren't enough females, and especially not enough females that didn't stay home.

If I had to choose, I'd be an Entwife. One of the unsolved mysteries.

2nd choice: Goldberry.
