Stevia: Not quite as good as sugar, but far better than
any artificial sweetener. :applause: Just had some in my coffee...

This has been a Public Service Announcement. :hi:

2. It's a sweetener sold at health food and natural food stores.
Edited on Tue Jul-18-06 06:52 AM by NewWaveChick1981
:hi: Comes in granulated or liquid form. It's not an artificial sweetener, but it's way better for you than sugar. No calories, no aftertaste to speak of, and it's a plant extract. I've been on a quest for a decent natural non-sugar sweetener, and I found it.

Hope that helps.

Oh, and no, you can't get high from stevia. Back away from the stevia...

3. IMHO, NuNaturals brand is the best by far,

...and their SoooLite formula the best of the best. I have a real sweet tooth and have tried a lot of different brands of Stevia over the years. This brand is the best by far, the sweetest with NO aftertaste. I can find them only online now, so here's a link:

http://www.nunaturals.com/products/stevia.html

and some info from their website:

~~~~~
NuNaturals SoooLite!
Stevia Extract
Premium Stevia
• Zero calories
• Safe for diabetics
• Great for hypoglycemics
• Perfect for dieters
• FOS free
• 100% natural, plant sources only
• Dissolves instantly in hot or cold beverages
• Absolutely No Carbohydrates
NuNaturals SoooLite! Has Completely Eliminated The Bitterness From Stevia
NuNaturals SoooLite! products have completely eliminated the bitterness from Stevia. Not a Little, Not Somewhat, Not A Bit, Not Almost...Completely. We have seen the advertisements for other Stevia products that claim to have done this but when you actually taste them, you know it is not true. Up until now all Stevia products have had an bitter aftertaste in varing degrees. NuNaturals offers 2 products that are non-bitter.
Our NuStevia White Stevia line continues to be the best tasting Stevia standardized for the Steviosides. SoooLite! Stevia is standardized for the Rebaudioside-A component of Stevia. In fact, there are no Steviosides in SoooLite. Not only that, but through proprietary technology, the other bitter components of Stevia have been completely filtered out. SoooLite! has a uniquie taste that you can enjoy in addtion to our NuStevia products.
NuNaturals SoooLite! Is A Completely Different Stevia Extract
Why? Because SoooLite! standardizes for a minimum of 95% of Rebaudioside-A. All other Stevia products on the market standardize for the Steviosides. NuNaturals SoooLite! is the only product on the market that contains only Rebaudioside-A.
Want To Try SoooLite? Click on the packet for a special offer on our trial pack size.
5. I've tried stevia...
:puke:
Honestly, if all you're using it in is coffee, a packet of sugar is only 15 calories. Unless you're a diabetic or on Atkins or something, 15 doesn't really do too much.
6. Thanks.
I've cut out refined sugar and been sucrose-free for about three months now. Stevia's the only other alternative I have because I won't use artificial sweeteners. As I said, it's not as good as sugar, but it's better than the artificial stuff. :)
8. Another huzzah for Stevia!
I have been using this product for years, ever since my thyroid went kablooey and took my blood sugar levels with it. I absolutely refuse to go anywhere near aspartame (my personal opinion is that stuff'll kill ya--but YMMV--I don't want to start DU Flame War No. 3,768 on it, so to each his or her own) and I have a tendency to like my coffee SWEEEEEEEEEEEEET, so I try to avoid sugar whenever I can. This stuff is a goddess-send!
