3. Amex has its call center in India apparently, and I don't mean to
be unkind, but I can't understand the reps some of the time. I had to call them to block our Amex so I could pay the recurring bills that go on there via my debit card since my husband is not working and I didn't want to have a big bill and I swear it was awful. Still not sure it is accurate.

Which reminds me, I need to tell Skinner to charge a different card.

11. So is Bell South. Now when I call, I immediately...
ask to speak to someone who speaks English as a first language.

They always transfer my call back to the states.

8. Once I called my bank and a black woman in Florida answered. I said I was
surprised to get an American, that I thought most of these jobs had been shipped out to India.

She said they were actually shutting down the office where she worked at the end of the month and sending the job overseas.

When McDonald's realizes you can operate a drive thru window in Milwaukee from a mud hut in Bangalore, even zit-faced teens won't be safe from outsourcing.

10. Hardees and some McDonald's ARE experimenting
with using DSL for drive through orders. A car pulls up to the drive through as normal..places the order via the speaker as normal; the only difference is that the person taking the order could be as far away as California. The order is taken by the remote person and sent back to the restaurant via the Internet using a high speed connection.

McDonald's May Outsource Drive-Thru Order-Taking

McDonald's has been trying to turn its sales arounds and after ad campaigns that have targeted mothers on the go and college students, the fast food chain says it's considering an option to outsource drive-thru order-taking. McDonald's execs say they are looking into hiring remote call centers to handle your orders. CFO Matthew Paull says McDonald's receives a large number of complaints about incorrect orders and a call center that exclusively takes orders might eliminate the problem.

12. you would've emailed me a year ago
since then they took my email correspondence department to Mumbai. Needless to day the quality of customer service has declined significantly, and my "don't give a shit" increased by the same. I could demonstrate it in a power point graph.

13. I like it when an Indian lady is helping me, because I love the sound
of Indian-accented English. :loveya:

It would be nice if they used their real names, too; or at least Hindi names.

14. If this is such a good thing for all concerned
then why don't their corporate masters allow them to use their given names?

As if they think Americans can't tell when someone is speaking with an accent!

23. Why do they bother giving them other names?
I mean, it is pretty obvious you are talking to someone in Mumbai or somewhere. Are Americans really that stupid that they will think they are talking to an American just because the person's names is Rose or Dennis or Roger? Some speak English better than others and it isn't as if there are no people in the US who have foreign accents but still, it is ridiculous.
