I couldn't see anyone but I'm surrounded by 40-50 acres. I'm glad my cats have been indoor cats their entire lives. If the locals didn't get them, a coyote would.

8. There is a public housing

development next to the community I live in. We hear gun shots about once a week. What I love is around the 4th of July, you can hear the fireworks being set off and the gunfire as well. It's really easy to tell the difference. Usually after a burst of fire, there is a 4 or 5 minute interval and then you hear the police sirens. Next day there is something in the paper about a Robinwood resident being arrested, usually for drugs.

9. Ahh, those nostalgic sounds of the old neighborhood

Gunfire in the morning, nothing like it to wake a person up and make them pay attention. Better yet is the running gun battle up and down the street. Gotta love it when you've got dueling crackhouses on the same block.

Seriously, if you wish to put an end to this sort of thing, form a neighborhood association to put pressure, both legal and public, on the landlords who time and again knowingly rent to felons, etc. That's what we did in our neighborhood and within a year it really cleaned the place up, and kept it clean.
