12. H2's are NOT military vehicles!
H2's are SUV's with a aluminum box on top that looks vaguely like a HMMMV (Hummer) on top.
The people driving them are pretending even more than the Hummer drivers, at least the Hummer owner bought themselves a real military vehicle to play thier macho fantasies with.
(How many Hummer and H2 drivers actually served? I've seen 1 Hummer on base... and no H2's... Not counting the actual ones, of course).

The H1 is over a hundred grand. People on active duty who buy something that costs over a hundred grand want it to have three bedrooms and two baths.

A Commander, with sea pay, pro-pay and command at sea pay makes good money, and could throw it away on a toy like a Hummer.
I don't know why he'd want to, I'd think command of a destroyer would be macho enough for anyone.

I'm not making that up, either. It was a nasty snowstorm and the h2 had gone off the road and was high-centered, spinning its wheels. She thinks he went off intentionally, to cut around traffic so he could get home faster. Just goes to show that stupidity will always overcome a vehicle's ability to drive in inclement weather.

How many of you chastise your grandparents, elderly neighbors, or anyone else driving a large luxury boat (Cadillac, Buick, etc.) ???

The land yachts you mentioned do NOT:

...Ride so high their headlights shine in your mirror.
...Impede your forward vision if they're in from of you.
...have a gross vehicle weight of more than 6,000 pounds so they get exempted from gas guzzler taxes as a "truck". That's the killer.

I think you may not see my point. A lot of lefyies love to demonize SUV drivers, when often luxury cars are no better or even worse (mpg). And if people want to demonize you for what you buy with your own money, then I think they should demonize eveyone with poor fuel economy, including grandma. Why not apply the "we hate you because you use too much gas" standard to everyone?

And they ARE more fuel efficient. Part of the hatered stems from their exemption from fuel-efficiancy standards and the obscene tax breaks UAV are given.

Our soldiers are dying in these so puny-peckered people and scared, poseur housewives can drive these things. If that ain't obscene, I don't know what is.

52. Of what use are SUVs to those who do not live in rural.,
bad weather areas, ranch or farm, or are fighting a sworn enemy?

Why does my neighbor down the street drive a Hummer, fer gush sakes? We live in city neighborhood of paved streets and single family homes and her family just bought an H2; she has 2 kids and a dog, that's it (and I know her personally). I like her as a neighbor, but her choice in transportation absolutely floors me.

Please give me another reason beyond conspicuous consumption, please. I know that they do NOT go 4 wheeling (which I have done often in a friend's Jeep that is used almost exclusively for that purpose--we don<'t go off established areas, fwiw).[br />

I saw one in the shopping mall parking lot the other day. It is so wide that i'm quite sure that the driver had to climb out the window to exit the vehicle. There couldn't have been more than 8 inches on either side of the car. So, three cars that had 4 doors blocked! Stupid.

50. The second site is hee-larious!
Poseur 4x4 drivers crack me the hell up. I live in TEXAS, where it doesn't snow, and doesn't rain much. Now there are folks that go off-roading as a hobby, or live on farm/ranch land, and I don't begrudge them their 4WD vehicles. The people who buy 2WD SUVs crack me up. You bought an oversized, gas-guzzling, inefficient un-safe vehicle so you can look cool and see over other cars (that can't see around YOU!). Don't get me started on people who drive RANGE ROVERS. WTF?! Going to be exploring the Serengeti on your vacation? Please. There is no need to have a Range Rover, except to announce your financial status (or good credit). The rest of us will buy BMWs, thanks. ;-) (And not the X5 either).

Same thing goes for pickup trucks too. Unless you haul large stuff frequently, there is no need for a full-size pickup. All you get is the "tough guy" image. :eyes: Yes, I include my own father in this. He traded away his Mazda pickup (20+ mpg) for a F-150 at 17 mpg. He wants to get rid of it, too. Maybe for a hybrid. So, at least he sees the error of his ways. :D

I used to live in cotton country of AZ, and loads of pickups and 4WDs of course. I love seeing here in the middle of what as become a fairly cosmopolitan city, huge, shiny, pristine, over the top 4WDs and pickups plastered with "Cowboy Up!" stickers. I laugh out loud at them.

My dad was a farmer and a cowboy, and he NEVER, EVER wore his hat indoors.

They wouldn't last a minute laying irrigation pipe!
