I'm just waiting for the power grid to start failing.
Earlier, I heard that Murray Hill had lost electricity.

10. East 14th - East 40th were on high alert. |
|
We got this press release at work today:
"Con Edison is urging all customers in Midtown East to discontinue their use of non-essential electrical appliances and equipment until problems on electrical equipment can be resolved.
Residents and businesses between 40th Street and 14th Street, from Fifth Avenue to the East River should shut off any unused or unnecessary appliances.
The company is asking its largest customers in that area to reduce their electrical use.
Company crews are working now to fix the problem."

Down Fifth Ave. to the Washington Square Park.
It's affecting our Cable. I just got off the phone with Time Warner---they're blaming it on Con Ed.

I was on a business trip a few weeks ago when we had a heat wave. My husband said it took him almost two hours to get home because they cut subway service to help Con Ed out. Hope that doesn't happen tonight.

Isn't this supposed to break tomorrow?
Normally, I wouldn't even take my little dog out in this heat, but I had to go to to the bank, and my apartment is being painted. I was afraid he'd start eating the paint, or whatever other kind of mischief he could get into.
So, I took him with me to the bank. I carried him when there was no shade on the sidewalk, as I'm afraid the concrete heat can burn his tiny paws. On the way, I saw the fountain was on in the park, so I took off my shoes and went into the fountain and dunked him.
Some lady started to scream at me.
'There's children in this fountain --There are children here.... The children --- I'm calling the cops".
My dog looked alot cleaner then those kids. What have people got against dunking an eight pound dog in the water so he doesn't get heat stroke?
Sorry, this is long, but I wanted to smack her.

We've been really worried about our two cats. The sublet we just moved into is unbearably hot. We have an air conditioner going and two high-powered fans, and our girls are still struggling. It's hard being at work worrying about our babies.

As if those kids will be contaminated? :wtf:
Hell, if your dog is friendly with kids they'd probably want to come over and play in the water with your dog.

sharing a fountain with the kids, unless the dog liked to eat kids. Some people are just nuts.
