Since lots of people hated the "Titanic" movie... how bout the exhibit?

Has anyone been to see the travelling "Titanic" exhibit? It's here at the Raleigh Museum of Natural Sciences now.

Usually, the museum has GREAT exhibits and I wouldn't miss one for the world (I'm a member and a science geek), but for a couple of reasons I haven't seen this one yet.
1) it's a "Clear Channel Exhibition" and I would hate giving my money to Clear Channel, even if I am also supporting the Museum at the same time.
2) it's ALWAYS crowded.
3) seems kind of morbid to be gawking over such a tragic event.
Should I go see it any way?

2. We saw it the first weekend it opened...

I didn't realize that Cheap Channel sponsored it. That in itself is pretty morbid!

I don't know; thought it was pretty interesting to see what had survived all those years down that deep; it was kind of sad to see who went down with the ship, and to think how it must have ended for them.:scared:

3. yeah, I didn't realize Clear Channel also did exhibits

They're everywhere! They have truly taken over every aspect of life...

If you check the exhibit web page it says in tiny writing at the bottom:
“Titanic: The Artifact Exhibit” is produced by Clear Channel Exhibitions in association with R.M.S. Titanic, Inc.
What the heck is an RMS Titanic INC? There's a COMPANY that owns the Titanic artifacts or something?

4. I saw it in Chicago

I loved it - seeing all that stuff from so long ago and knowing it survived decades in the deep ocean - priceless. Go see it.

I agree with Skittles. It was eerie seeing those items they brought up. the re-creations of parts of the ship were something, also.

I loved seeing the actual china cups used on the ship. Nice experience.

15. Well, I went when it was here in AZ, and it was

informative, but I have to admit, it gave me the creeps BIG time.

I remember visiting the USS Arizona Memorial, and while I was in tears and seriously bugged about it, people were happily taking pictures--"Smile big!"

My passenger was 3rd class and her entire family perished. I looked her up and her story is terribly sad. That alone, I think, made it worthwhile. In researching her, I found out all kinds of compelling info.


Avoid the ice if you go. That will REALLY creep you out, but no spoilers on what I'm talking about.

17. Go see it

I didn't know the cheaps had anything to do with it either, but we saw it in KC, and it was very interesting. They gave us a name when we entered, the name of someone aboard ship, at the end you discovered if you survived or not. I didn't make it, but my wife did.
