My day was OK. I programmed a bunch of crap to animate hair and stuff and did way too much math for it and my head kind of hurts now, but oh, well...

It belongs to a friend of a friend (I actually regard the owner as the most annoying, whiny person on the face of the planet and hate him, but we have a couple of mutual friends).
Anyway, they were once bored and painted it green...but the paint job is such that it looks like Jackson Pollock painting an Army camouflage pattern.
And in large, red letters on the side are the words
WAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHH!!!! DAKADAKADAKA!
He delivers pizza in it.

They call it Dominck's in Chicago. It also goes by...*goes to look it up*...Vons, Pavilions, Genuardi's, Randall's, Tom Thumb or Carr's depending on what part of the country the store's in, but they're all the same company.
I worked there last summer. Working in a hot deli in the middle of summer isn't exactly fun. This summer's been a lot better. :D

That reminds me. A couple days ago I had to listen to a fundie go on about how we should have just blown the Mid East away after 9/11. He went on about how we "used" to do things that way. He said "it's crazy how the kids over there go out and blow people up. We shoulda just blown 'em all away." I retorted that it's precisely because of the innocents like children that we *couldn't* "blow them away."
Honest to god... I was getting the adrenaline up. x(

I used to write for the local paper around here (in HS for about two years)...drove the locals up the fucking wall (this town is easily 65% Republican). I think my mom was slightly afraid I would get lynched some days. I did end up on the Secret Service's "List" and banned from being in the same venue as the president or VP. Hooray for notoriety!! :bounce:

44. Haha...it was hilarious. |

August 26, 2004. Bush came to town on a campaign stop. Since this is basically Podunk, Nowhere, this was a huge (HUGH) deal and the city council and the police department locked down half of downtown and the local baseball park (where he was going to speak). A family friend who was active in the county Democrats got me a ticket to see the event and I figured I'd go because A) I'd get a day off of school and B) just to see what these campaign stops were like in person.
So on the day of, I go with some friends (who also had tickets) to the park and stand in the line. After the first ticket check I got pulled aside and one of the guys there told me to wait while he got someone else. So after a few minutes, a Secret Service agent comes up (black suit, sunglasses and everything...it was kind of surreal), ripped up my ticket and told me to leave the venue or be arrested. So I left and found some other friends holding protest signs on a street corner and spent the rest of the afternoon with them.
I wrote an article about it and the paper was seriously buzzing about it from then to election. By November, I was getting a little tired of people asking me "hey, you're that guy who got kicked out of the Bush rally, right?" Apparently my mom still gets questions about that occasionally.
Oh, yeah, and in October, Cheney stopped in town for a rally (at my high school of all places :eyes:). Fortunately that was on a Saturday, so they didn't have to send me home.
So, yeah, that's the story...as simple as I can make it. There are some details that I won't post in the open forum, though.
 :loveya:

Amazing! :applause: :yourock: Most I've done was the huge worldwide protest Feb. 13 or so 2002 or 3 (?). And our community group for Kerry did a whole bunch of stuff. And I got to shake Kerry's hand. Twice :bounce: I haven't stuck out my neck far enough to get me watched, but you never know.
Sometimes, however, I hear an odd clicking on the telephone line, and it makes a body wonder. 0.o

OMG...if you ask my family, they can come up with a million conspiracy theories about how our phones are tapped and our e-mails are being watched. Though sometimes, yeah, you're right, it makes a body wonder.
I still have questions about that Secret Service agent who tore up the ticket...those are some of things I won't post openly. :o

I trust the DU admins to not read our PMs and to take appropriate security measures. It's not that I think it'd put anyone in danger or anything; it's just not something I'd want anyone and everyone reading.
And Roswell is really freakin' weird. Like the moment you cross from one side of town to the other you go from haute-couture (sp?) restaurants and libraries and theaters to anything and everything UFO. It's like it's something straight out of the '50s and it's a little eerie.
One of the towns around here claims to have had its own UFO crash in 1948, too. :D

20. sorry....here are the lyrics...least I can do |
|
Cold and misty morning, I heard a warning borne in the air About an age of power where no one had an hour to spare, Where the seeds have withered, silent children shivered, in the cold Now their faces captured in the lenses of the jackals for gold. Ill be there Ill be there I will be there.
Suffering in silence, theyve all been betrayed. They hurt them and they beat them, in a terrible way, Praying for survival at the end of the day. There is no compassion for those who stay. Ill be there Ill be there I will be there.
There must be someone who can set them free: To take their sorrow from this odyssey To help the helpless and the refugee To protect whats left of humanity. Cant you see Cant you see Cant you see.
Ill be there Ill be there I will be there; To heal their sorrow To beg and borrow Fight tommorow.
