1. The worst part of every semester |

I hated it. But I was a history major so I never had to buy any of those huge science books that cost an arm and a leg. At the same time though, I couldn't ever sell any of them back.

So I can't really complain too much about the cost of the books. It's a lot of money though, at least to me.

14. textbook tips from a real cheapskate...... |
|
email your professor and ask if its ok to get an old edition, you can save hundreds. (amazon.com, half price books)
or ask your indian friends and get an "international" edition, which is usually paperback and way less expensive (got my campbell biology current edition for $9.95 this way, regular over $100)
or go to your school library and check out the ones you need (got at least 1 book per semester at my college library this way, you have to do it early though, before semester starts usually)
last but not least, if you have access to a free copier and some time, borrow or "rent" a textbook and copy it, put it in a spiral notebook.

Get together with a few other people taking the same class, let the person who reads best have it first to highlite the relevant passages, then pass it around.
