Wow, what stupendous news!
Well, at least you have lots of time to get ready for their arrival!
Do you know yet if they're identical, or fraternal?
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU!

I'm predicting a boy and a girl. BTW, my track record at predictions is 100%, thant includes my two nephews and a niece and about a 1/2 dozen or so friends' kids. Dumb luck I guess.

Get your wife some help for the first several months. You are BOTH going to need an extra helping hand.

My sister said that the recurring comment at her mother of twins group* that those who had had only twins didn't realize it was that much harder because being a first time parent is overwhelming for anyone and they had no personal reference for what a normal workload should be for a baby. The mothers who had singles after twins agreed!
*the mother of twins group was a great resource for hints on time management and the like.

buggers wear me out! It was the feedings for the first 4 months. Every 1 1/2 hours they needed to be fed. Round the clock.
Just get used to doing everything twice. Sounds simple...but it's not.

blissfully unaware how much harder it was made those with twins first VERY happy about the birth order. The other thing she was glad about was that she had fraternals and everyone could tell them apart from day one and treated them like separate people rather than like two of the same person.

They will be our first, so yeah, I suppose we won't have a personal reference to compare the workload, however, we have a decent idea of what's involved since my sister who leaves only a few block away has had two kids in the last couple of years (1 is almost two, and the youngest is just over 6 months), and since we live so close, we've been pretty involved in helping her out.

You're going to have the time of your life. If your twins are half as great as ours you have it made.
My father is a twin too, from a boy-girl pair. And his twin sister's daughter also has twins. Our family is awash with them; twin cousins on my mother's side too. It's great!

That'll work!
Actually, we weren't thinking along the lines of related or rhyming names, at least not yet!
If one is a boy, I'd like to name him Luke, after my grandfather Louis whom everyone referred to as Lukie. And of course, Luke Skywalker! Mabye if it's a boy and a girl, Luke & Leiah? ;-)

I didn't know I carried twins until the first twin was born, and they told me to lay back down because there was another one.
At the time, I thought, "How many of them are in there?" It was quite a shock.
Nice that nowadays, you get a bit of advance warning ;)
Advice I was given when mine were infants from another mom of twins:
Bolt all furniture to the floors and walls.
Install a half-door ( Dutch door) on the bedroom or have a sturdy gate to keep them confined in one room.
I thought this woman was insane, but then when mine started climbing and walking, I learned to never underestimate the power of two great toddler minds working together
have fun!!!!!!

I'll bet! Thanks for the advice, I'm sure I have no real idea yet what a handful it's going to be but I do have a vivid imagination and a niece and two nephews under two!
Thanks again!

Congrats! :woohoo:
Around here, there are annual Mothers of Multiples (MOMs) sales where families of multiples put up their gently used baby/children items for sale. Can be helpful when looking at buying two of everything. The one I've been to was held at a school and took up the entire gymnasium. Parents of multiples were the only ones allowed in the first few hours and then they let everyone else in.

If your marriage can survive it then it can survive anything. Barring a nasty medical condition or death nothing scares me in life anymore, Nothing. You come to realize dual breast feeding should be an olympic sport. You vaguely remember what a sex life was. 10pm is very late and 7:30am is 'sleeping in'.
You get to hear EVERYONE in public say the following "Ow I know EXACTLY what its like having twins, my two kids are ONLY XX months apart." Of course letting them know about our own toddler usually shuts them up.
Strangers comments range from "Ow you have your hands full" - good comment. To.. "Better you then me." / "I'd rather be dead"/ "God help you." - not so good.
Most important thing is to have a sense of humor.
Ow and ask your in-laws or family for help. My mother came up for one week after they were born but beyond that we have had ZERO help for 6 months except for one 3 hour reprieve when we went out for anniversary. We are pretty bitter over it, I hope your family is more supportive.
My wife is an incredible women, she is a stay at home mom, first by choice now by necessity. I'm in IT and was making bad mistakes at work due to lack of sleep my wife stepped up and took over all night activities so I wouldn't hose my job. Amazing woman and I just wanted to brag on her, she is a rock.
