I'm watching
Wicker Park now (for the first time) and recently saw Josh Hartnett in
Hollywood Homicide (got that one on DVD and I love it, masterpiece though it may not be, not least because of all the spot-on Los Angeles sensibility within) and
40 Days And 40 Nights, and it occurred to me that he looks a fair bit like a young Tommy Lee Jones. I'm finding him quite an appealing actor, too, and a refreshing change from the usual Hollywood dudes of his age or thereabouts, many who project their I'm-full-of-myself (and here I'm not
just talking about that Irish git, whatshisface...oh, yeah: Colin Farrell) on to every screen role as well as in their personal conduct. Seems to me like he doesn't exactly wallow in all the dubious glory of the business, either, or keep the tabloids in business.
Anyway, I think they're both good actors and could be great together in the right property because they look so similar, I think, and even have a similar kind of quiet way about themselves. Tommy Lee Jones is, of course, a dude who -- like Gene Hackman, Denzel, and a few others -- makes any film worthwhile solely by his presence in it.
The
Scooby Doo dude, who was also in
Scream, is in
Wicker Park, too -- I love that doofus. :-)
