Rob Zombie's next film: "Halloween" (re-make of John Carpenter classic)

http://www.halloweenmovies.com/index2.html

QUESTION: Why do you feel that you are the person to take on this project? (from Anna in Florida)

RZ: Because I have a vision that I believe can work. If I didn't I would go near it.

QUESTION: Can you please clarify what you mean when you say you are "not making a sequel" and that your Halloween will be a "re-imagining" of the series? Isn't that just another word for "remake"? (from Cole in Chicago)

RZ: Well, sort of. I am basically making a prequel and a semi-remake of the first film all in one. So really in theory there will be more original content than remake content. That's why I don't like the word "remake."

QUESTION: Since you are a musician, will you be doing the entire music score for the film, or will you be collaborating with anyone else? And will you integrate any of John Carpenter's classic themes into the score? (from Craig)

RZ: I do not plan on doing the score for this film myself other than in a supervisor position. I have already done some work with the composer and we both feel that Carpenter's themes are classic and will play an important role.

1. I will pass on this...
didn't care for house of a 1,000 corpses...havent seen devils rejects yet, and this idea for halloween...sounds cheap. To me, House of a 1,000 corpses was a remake of the texas chainsaw massacre...

4. Difference between "Corpses" & "Rejects"...
...was the difference between night and day. "Rejects" was visually stunning, with an excellent soundtrack and some things you haven't seen before.

Even though the two films share characters, "Corpses"...to me, anyway...was rough, not necessarily a "warm-up" act for "Rejects," but not fully realized, either.

"Rejects" plays up the Manson Family overtones of the main characters...very disturbing, psychological stuff. Worst thing that will happen if you check it out is that you might not like it...

8. I haven't seen it yet
and so far, the friends of mine who saw it, think it was...mediocre at best, and thought House was better...thats why I avoided it...if it ever hits the IFC channel, I will watch it...:)

2. If it wasn't Zombie, I'd say "Fuck that" but The Devils Rejects was badass

5. My feeling exactly.
For my money, only one movie was worth watching after Halloween II, and that was Halloween 4. It succeeded almost entirely through skilled recycling of what appeared in the first two films. A year later they tried to dip back into the well with Halloween 5, which tanked at the box office and went direct-to-video everywhere outside of the U.S.A.

And I also respect RZ, in light of Devil's Rejects, for saying that if he didn't think he could tackle it, he wouldn't.

10. AHHHHHH!
Rob Zombie couldn't make a decent film if his life depended on it! But if he wants a boyfriend... I'm available.

So I'll probably go see it :)

12. About what?
That I don't think he's a great filmmaker? Or that I'd rip off my clothes and throw myself at his feet?

Both statements are true... but are only my opinions.

So you like horror movies? I'll show you mine if you show me yours :)
