A rant on the terror alert system, yellow to orange. |
|
I was just on another thread and finally realized how incredibly devastating raising the terrorism alert can be for some families. Especially those with people in their care with limited mobility, animals, kids. I find it really sickening that a government would play on the emotions of those who cannot take care of themselves.
During one of the first increases from yellow to orange, I was home alone with my invalid mother and two children. This was the alert to buy duct tape and tarps to seal yourself in a basement. My husband was away on a business trip overseas. I was truly scared. I bought the food, water, set up the toilet provisions and ways to get my mother into the cellar. I did as much as I could to ensure the safety of the animals. As head of the household I had to make sure every one was taken care of and I was truly scared. The one thing that was missing from all of this was the government telling me that they would do every thing they could to take care of me. Never heard it. And...never will from this adminstration. I am still mad that they used this tactic to scare people, it isn't fair to children or invalids. I frankly find it sickening.

2. You are more likely to die from an auto accident than from a terrorist |
|
Buckle up, put on sun screen, don't smoke, watch your diet, exercise. Not doing these things are more risky than terrorism.

But my wheel-chaired mother, 78, doesn't understand stuff like that. If her president tells her she is in danger, then she IS in danger.

Elevated risk of crayon markings, especially around small children. Take precautions.
