Celebrating the New Number Two in Rosslyn, VA, right now, tonight! |
|
Hi all,
I've just learned that yet another al Qaeda #2 has been picked up in Iraq, just in time for the pre-election news cycle.
To celebrate this momentous occasion, I've decided to watch a few episodes of The Prisoner, a warped little British TV series well worth the watching if you've never seen it. I also have one helluva case of insomnia, so I'll be greeting the dawn, most likely. Then I thought about it for a second and said, hey, why not make it a party?
I've retired from the sport of drinking myself, but I'm pretty sure there's a bottle of Tanqueray around somewhere--otherwise it's BYOB&W. If you're particularly adventurous, we can probably set the whole thing up on my front porch of my spacious plantation home (sans plantation), conveniently located between the Court House and Rosslyn Metro stops.
Let's say kickoff time will be 2:30 am, after the bars close.
I'll check back to this thread in a little while to see if anyone's interested.
What's BYOB&W? Bring your own booze and washing, of course. I have a laundry machine that doesn't require quarters.

1. I'll pour another drink in celebration! It's not every day that we catch |

the elusive Number Two...
Did you notice how so many headlines referred to "the number 2 man in Al Qaeda" - conveniently failing to specify number 2 in Al Qaeda in Iraq? The incautious reader could be led to believe that our glorious leaders are making progress in the War on TerrorTM...

2. Just every other day, right? |

Yes, I noticed precisely what you describe. In fact, that's why I bothered to read the article in the Washington Post in the first place.
As far as I can tell, nobody's sure if the Number One guy in Iraq is even a real person.
Oh well, unlike the Big Apple, Washington DC is a city that very much sleeps--through the entire month of August, among other times. I guess my fellow DUers are all tucked away. So on with the show!
