A blog for those who hate the comic strip Cathy |
|
Not for the easily offended. Her treatments of Cathy are along the lines of a very dark Dysfunctional Family Circus. http://moonpuppet.blogspot.com/

2. Cathy was funny for about six months in the 1980s |
|
She captured some truths about being a thirtyish single woman in that era,
but
1) There hasn't been an original idea in that strip since those first six months. My friends and I first noticed that the bathing suit gag was being endlessly recycled.
2) I saw Cathy Guisewhite interviewed on TV some years ago, and for all her strips about the cartoon Cathy being so fat, the real Cathy Guisewhite is skinny enough to look as if she has an eating disorder.

3. Cathy: The Queen of Weak-willed Women. |
|
As a strong, independent woman I found Cathy repulsive. She was constantly feigning after men, "nourishing" her fragile ego on bon-bons, and lived her life caught in the status quo. She was a cheap beach novel personified in a cartoon character. BLECH! :puke:
