ARTHUR TREACHER'S FISH BATTER
3 Pounds Fish Fillets
2 Cups All-purpose flour
3 Cups Pancake mix
3 Cups Club soda
1 Tablespoon Onion powder
1 Tablespoon Seasoned salt

Dip moistened fish pieces evenly but lightly in the flour.

Dust off any excess flour and allow pieces to air dry on waxed paper, about 5 minutes. Whip the pancake mix with the club soda to the consistency of buttermilk- pourable, but not too thin and not too thick. Beat in the onion powder and seasoned salt.

Dip floured fillets into batter and drop into 425 oil in heavy saucepan using meat thermometer. Brown about 4 minutes per side.

Arrange on cookie sheet in 325 oven until all pieces have been fried.

5. OMG! Are there any Arthur Treachers left?
I used to go to one with my English grandda' all the time, but he died and the F&C shop turned into a Vietnamese joint.

Are there some Arthur Treachers left outside of MN? Cause we haven't had one here since the mid 80's.

I will definitely be saving this recipe

6. Don't cry for me, Arthur Treacher...
(Sorry :-) )

We still had them in New Jersey up until a year or so ago. Then they seem to have combined with Nathan's Hotdogs.

7. Arthur Treacher's here
Edited on Tue Jul-08-03 09:32 AM by supernova
paired off with a Miami Subs shop. While I've gone to Miami Subs to get a Gyro, I've never ordered anything from the Arthur Treacher's menu.

Are they any good? I'm usually not a fried fish fan. (Sushi!!! )

What kind of fish do they even use?

Probably a stupid question...I know, I know...no stupid questions, blah blah blah.

But thanks for the recipe--my kid loves Arthur Treacher's.
