Best joke ever on DU homepage: "White House internal ethics investigation"
Edited on Tue Oct-03-06 01:22 PM by undisclosedlocation
Bet that'll take a long time. (Pertains to a Rove assistant with Abramoff ties. See? Bushes believe in breaking the glass ceiling and letting women be fall guys, too. How heartwarming)

2. Halliburton. No bid contract. Like anybody around there would know
where to look for somebody with ethics; they'll just do the same thing they do with everything else (ie no-bid Halliburton)

3. Actually, you are totally right..I wrote a whole post about that..
Bush DID break the glass ceiling in several ways, and it SUCKS, because he took that sweet victory away from us too. Suprise suprise--he STOLE something else, and turned it into something shameful. Condi is one of the most powerful women in the world--and she is HORRIBLE.
I am royally pissed that they tried to take that away from our side..but I have hope.

5. Madeleine Albright was the first female Secretary of State
so no, the Bushians have literally nothing to brag about, unless you count Worst President Ever, which for all I know or can tell they do.

6. That's not my point.
I know very well that she was,and who put her there. My point is that (surprisingly to me and some other women at least) this administration has continued that trend, even to the point of putting MORE women in positions of power within the structure of their administration, whether widely known or not. We have been so focused on the evils of this administration that we looked right past the fact that it FINALLY became ROUTINE for women to actually BE in those positions. I would have liked that to be accomplished under the party that champions women, not under the fundamentalist GOP. It speaks to the true nature of their greed and corruption that they do not really subscribe to the beliefs of many of their repressive supporters.
They effectively took that victory away from those that had brought us to it..which pisses me off to no end.
It's a change in attitude more than anything. Women have striven for equality which in this sense means the assumption that a woman is as normal a choice for those jobs as a man. That has finally happened. It's just very galling it had to happen like this.

7. In my head, the investigation goes like this:
"Okay, anyone with ethics, raise your hand. Anyone? No? Seriously, no one here has ethics? Great!"
