Technical networking help |
|
I have a question for someone who knows how to block IP ranges with a D-Link DI-604 router. I have looked in the manual and elsewhere and have not been able to find out how to add multiple IP addresses and ranges at once. I have a long list of IP addresses I'd like to lock out of my machine- too many to type in by hand.
Can anyone here help me with this?

2. I have that same router |
|
I don't know if the function exists... I also cannot VPN to my company through that router. I have to plug my PC directly into my cable modem to do it. The DLINK site claims the device supports the appropriate encryption but just never seemed to work. I called them for support and DID get a phone call back from a rep, but when I called him in return and left a voice mail for him I never heard from him again.
I like DLINK but sometimes wonder if I should have paid the ten extra bucks for the Linksys...

4. Check your firmware revision |
|
I had VPN problems until I updated the firmware to the latest version.
Also, check into the "DMZ" option on the firewall manager. You can allow one inside machine to be exposed to the internet as if it were directly connected. I did that to troubleshoot why my wife's VPN didn't work.

I am not aware of a way to programmatically enter the data like you want.
But I have to ask, why do you feel the need to expressly lock out some IP addresses? By default, the firewall will block anything incoming unless you tell it to allow it. There should be no need to block certain ranges, unless they are engaging in a DoS attack in which case your ISP would be able to take action.
