Well, sometimes you learn cool things from Republican scandals. All this time using IM, and I never knew you could save them! I use AOL AIM. Does anyone know how I would save AOL AIM chats if I wanted to? Not that I want to, but maybe one day I'll have an interesting one I'd like to save. ;)

1. You can always copy and paste your conversation into a text file |
I haven't used IM in a while, but I also think that some might have a log feature where you can save the conversation.

4. I use Adium as my AIM chat program. |
Inside of preferences, there's an option to log them automatically as text files. Just click that. Personally, I like Adium because you can have multiple chat accounts open within one program. I can be logged in with two AIM screen names, yahoo, and gmail chat at the same time. It might only be for Apple computers though. I'm pretty sure AIM itself has the option to automatically save chats, as well.

5. AIM has an option to save conversations in the message window |
or, if you use Trillian, all conversations are automatically archived.
