1. Something about that man..........
really speaks to me.....

I've read both his other books, "Tuesdays with Morrie" and "The Five People You Meet in Heaven".......

And just loved them.....

He writes so movingly, with so much love and understated passion.

I am a little surprised that you, of all people, don't get it........

Since you understand what it means to be loving......

I just re-read the end of "Tuesdays with Morrie." It made me cry just a tiny bit......

I don't know much about Christian mysticism........

But I do know that Mitch Albom speaks from his heart, and I love to hear him do so.....

3. Christian Mysticism because he speaks from a Christian
point of view and combines that with the heaven...

4. Maybe it's the same thing
that makes him write before the non-fact about things that didn't happen, as if they did.

7. more on christian mysticism
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_mysticism

While such phenomena are associated with mysticism in general, including the Christian variety, for Christians the major emphasis concerns a spiritual transformation of the self, such that they become more fully realized human persons, "created in the Image and Likeness of God" and in harmonious communion with God, the rest of humanity and all creation, and oneself. This human potential is realized most perfectly in Jesus and is manifested in others through their association with Him, whether conscious, as in the case of Christian mystics, or unconscious, with regard to persons who follow other traditions, such as Gandhi. The Eastern Christian tradition speaks of this transformation in terms of theosis or divinization, perhaps best summed up by an ancient aphorism usually attributed to Athanasius of Alexandria: "God became human so that humans might become God."

8. I have liked some of his columns
Edited on Sun Oct-08-06 06:48 AM by fujiyama
in the Detroit Free Press, where he is the Sports Columnist.

But his writing often times seems repetetive, shallow, and sort of amaturish. It never impressed me.

And I read "Tuesdays with Morrie" years ago and found it sort of manipulative and dull. Morrie sounded like an interesting guy, but I thought the way the book was written was cheesy...

But he seems like a decent guy overall, and I think he leans left politically. I don't know much about the Christian mysticism though.
