Last Time You Used a Payphone - When? Circumstances? |
|
Mine: 2000, when phone service to my condo building was cut off, and my phone date w/ Mrs. V. would've come and gone. (Obviously this was before I moved here to be with her.)
We didn't have cell phones until October 2001. Bet you can't guess what motivated us to get them.
When was the last time you used a payphone?

I was stuck at an airport after my flight had been cancelled, unsure if there'd be room on the next one eight hours later. x(
No, I don't have a cell phone.

6. I did make the next flight |

...but if I'd been able to, I would've left and caught a flight the next day. I was visiting my dad, who was sick, and both of us would have really appreciated the extra time together.
Instead, there was the all-day airport fun and a very late-night arrival from which my poor husband had to pick me up.
...I guess I should get a *gulp* cell phone...

Calling home from the Cincinnati airport. Thought I had lost my cell phone. Turns out I merely replaced it (as usual).

4. Subway, in NYC, a month ago. |

Since cells don't work down there, and I was running late coming to work.
As I searched for a working payphone I nostalgically remembered the #1 reason for buying my first cellphone 8 years ago.

On campus, to call a friend of mine. I don't own a cell phone, and don't use the phone enough to really warrant getting one.

I had a cell phone at that time, but at sixty cents a minute I only used it when there was no other alternative.

summer of 2004, Tulsa, Oklahoma, near Creek Nation Casion...I was suppose to pick up a friend of mine, but he told me to go to the wrong casino. He said Creek Nation, but meant Cherokee Nation Casino...I had to use a payphone to try and get a hold of him...which didnt'work, cause his cell phone got turned off the same day! It was a nightmare of a day...
