5 years on DU.

I first found DU in February of 2001 while searching for jokes about *, and a Google link led me to the always hilarious Top 10 Conservative Idiots. Though I immediately became a devotee, I didn't join until the following October (thanks invasion of Afghanistan for getting me off my butt) for two reasons. One is that I only had an internet connection at work (where I was supposed to be doing work vs. surfing cyberspace) and the fact that I had never previously posted in a forum environment and was a little afraid of doing so.

The last five years is history, and my DUing changed in January of 2002 when I bought a home computer with internet access. :)

I have made some great friends (you know who you are, drinking buddies ;) ) in real life. The late Andy Stephenson became one of the best friends I will ever have. I still miss him terribly and when his loss starts to hurt, I remember his last Christmas spent with me and my family.

I even met my :loveya: here. Although he no longer posts here, I am happy to say that he is not as lone as his user name indicated anymore. :D
