they used a freaking sound cue for a dog barking that was visible on screen. It was a German Shepherd that unfortunately sounded like some 25lb mutt. His barks didn't even match up with his mouth moving.

5. It's okay.
The costumes and special effects are definitely circa 70s bad horror movie.

I agree though, old bad horror movies are the best. I miss MST3K. I wish it was still on tv.

7. I especially love the early '50s space stuff
The Commando Cody serials are just so bad. I have "Radar Men from the Moon" on DVD; it's your standard cowboys-and-indians fare, with a fist fight in almost every episode. But they threw in some horrendous space-travel scenes — like when they're en route to the moon and it's daylight.

19. I don't actively pursue them
except from Netflix once in awhile. My BIL's brother gave me the Commando Cody DVDs. I have "Metropolis" and "Things to Come," but those are classics — damned good classics.

What I do look for, to purchase, are films of the "Reefer Madness" genre. I have a few of those, including that one, "Cocaine Fiends," "Marihuana" and "Assassin of Youth."

22. Sweet!
"Sex Madness" is a hoot; I've seen it three or four times.

There was a hilarious parody of it at the end of "Amazon Women on the Moon" with Carrie Fisher and Paul Bartel.

Thanks for the link. :toast:

4. If you want real sci-fi cheese...
...try 'The Arrival.' It's a Charlie Sheen vehicle from 1996 that was on TNT or USA last night and had me curled in a ball, howling with laughter within five minutes. It's utter shit.

11. You know, I seem to recall that movie having one very creepy
scene involving scorpions in a bed, presumably placed there by the aliens to silence a potential whistleblower. Let's hope Karl Rove hasn't seen it.

13. History is weirder than fiction.
You just reminded me of a lovely little tidbit.

An Egyptian pharoah (just which one, I can't remember), is alleged to have been assassinated by placing scorpions in the royal chamber pot.

Ouch.

The Arrival 2.

Yes yet another sequel that really did not need to be made. No I have not seen nor do I think I will.

15. The hell with that. You want sci-fi cheese, you see "They Live"
with "Rowdy Roddy" Piper.

It's the movie from whence we get the immortal line "I came here to kick ass and chew bubble gum ... and I'm all outta gum!"

16. That's nothing
I once saw some kung-fu movie where a character was being pursued by some angrily snarling devil dogs.

Only instead of devil dogs, they were very happy and friendly-looking, tail-wagging German Shepherds.

And instead of angrily snarling, or even cheerfull barking, there was some *person* on the sound track making barking noises.

23. You ever seen Leprechaun? Possibly one of the stupidest movies ever made
and I love it. I don't know why, but I find it inexplicably hilarious. There is just something theraputic and laughable about a singing 2 foot tall guy driving toy cars and beating up police officers.

(last week excepted) from 8-9pm CT Friday nights, at least until the end of Season 3.0 around Thanksgiving. Then whenever Season 3.5 starts again.
