How much do you pay for a box of checks?
I belong to a Credit Union and ordered 2 boxes of checks (the ones that leave you a "carbon" copy). I was charged $41.85 for this. It seems high to me. Is it?

1. I paid $18 for a box of checks about two months ago.
They were the wallet kind and not carbon-copy checks. Yours might be about right for today's prices. :yoiks: I use them so infrequently, though, that this box will last at least a year.

2. Pay for cheques?
Do you mean ones for you to write?

I get a cheque book from my bank, when I'm close to finishing it they send another - don't pay anything by way of charges.

10. Banks like to charge for chequebooks over here in Yankeeland.
Mine doesn't, but it makes a big deal of the fact, which leads me to believe that a lot do.

3. I get free checks.
But yes, that does seem somewhat high for two boxes of checks.

5. That's about what I pay.
I don't use 'em very often, though. One box lasts me close to a year.

11. My bank charges
an amount equal to the estimated total dollar figure that will be written on all the checks in the box.

Okay, not really.

13. I get free checks...
I work at a check printing company and know they run pretty high these days when you buy them from your financial inst but it is the best place to buy them. Just FYI the cheap check printing places have only the min security features req'd by law and sell your information so if I didn't get free checks from work I personally would buy them from my credit union.

15. Nothing. But I wouldn't pay more than $6 a box. Maybe 12 for extra fancy
I don't pay for checks under the account that I have.

But $20 a box seems very excessive.
