Annoying siblings : Who needs them?
Honestly, what an ungrateful lot I have.

I'm organizing my parents' anniversary dinner, so far we have 11 people. Parents wanted just family and a couple of friends.

Sent invites to the three siblings.....deadline is tomorrow but I doubt they will respond. :(

I'm fed up here.....all you need to do is have a 2 or 3 hour dinner in town at a nice, moderately priced restaurant. Too much for them.

Call me cynical but I know the score with these people. :eyes:

I wonder if my sister didn't get her invitation. According to my niece (bless her, she's coming!!) my sister told her she hasn't been getting her mail lately. Right. :(

My step siblings have no excuse. Okay, I'll buy it if they really are busy that day, but I don't think so. You may be angry at your dad, but my mom has been nothing but a loving, generous step-mother to them. At least give back a little, like a little of your precious time.

What the hell is wrong with people? Just suck it up and TRY to be decent every 25 years or so. :eyes:

1. Call each of them.
Record their excuses and tell them you will be sure to let Mom and Dad know how they feel. Then write 'em off. You don't have to care about people just because they're related to you.

5. Nah, they ain't worth it.........
I put on the invites that I would just be calling the ones who responded so they know I booked them a place.

that said, I just knew they were not going to come. Hope what goes around finally comes around. They don't even call at Xmas.

3. I feel like one sometimes.......
I don't know or care anymore what bees they have in their bonnets. I just hope it doesn't put a damper on things.

We can have a fun time without them.

4. I have one of those, but I'm sure she says the same about me.
She's a 'born-again' fundy type who is pissed off when someone thinks her married name sounds 'jewish' to someone. She once said to me "Please don't tell me you're an atheist. I just read what they believe."

7. But do you deliberately brush family off?
I doubt it. :)

8. No, that I never do.
But there is a 2 1/2 hour drive between us, which makes it a little inconvenient for the 'drop in', but even with that, it seems as if my wife and I have more meaningful and frequent visits with my parents than my sister, and her and my brother in law live 10 minutes away from my parents.

Very moderately priced.....A friend of mine has been there, she, her husband, and kid all ate for about 83 dollars.....including appetizers, wine and dessert. :)

11. Oooo! I love the Forks!
Last time I was in Winnipeg, took a long walk down by the river. So lovely. Well, except for the mosquitoes. heee.

13. Sorry to hear, D_K,
but you're not going to change them. You know that. If they want to miss out, that's their problem, not yours. Don't take it on yourself. :pals:

Yours sounds a bit like my family. In my case, I've decided to just distance myself from the lot of them. I don't need the stress of dealing with them anymore...
