DESCRIPTION

Management Training - Cavalry Scout

In the Texas Army National Guard, the Cavalry Scout is a Soldier who leads, serves, or assists as a member of scout crew, squad, section, or platoon in reconnaissance, security, and other combat operations. His contributions are integral to the overall success of his team.

The Texas Army National Guard is an elite group of warriors who dedicate a portion of their time to serving their nation. Guard members train part-time to be ready full-time, should their state or nation call them to serve.

Major Duties


Operates, and performs operator maintenance on scout vehicles, Armored Airborne Reconnaissance Vehicles, and Cavalry Fighting Vehicles, crew-served weapons, and communications equipment.
Loads, clears, and fires individual and crew-served weapons
Operates and performs operator maintenance on wheeled vehicles
Assists in the recovery of wheeled and tracked vehicles
Secures, prepares, and stows ammunition on scout vehicles
Performs mounted and dismounted navigation
Serves as member of observation and listening post
Gathers and reports information on terrain features and enemy strength, disposition and equipment
Collects data for the classification of routes, fords, tunnels, and bridges
Employs principles of cover and concealment and camouflage
Assists with construction of light field fortifications, laying and removal of mines, and emplacing demolitions

REQUIREMENTS
Must be male – this job is closed to women
Between the ages of 17 and 42
High School Diploma or GED (If you do not have a diploma or GED, you may still apply - ask a recruiter about how the Army National Guard can help you earn your GED)
Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
Must meet citizenship requirements (see www.1-800-GO-GUARD.com for details)
Ability to lift very heavy objects
Normal color vision
Correctable vision of 20/20 in one eye and 20/100 in the other eye
