Selling your home and buying an RV to simplify your life
There was a piece on ABC's Nightline last night about a family that felt suffocated with the daily grind of long hours at work and working harder and harder to buy more and more crap they don't need. What they did was quit their jobs, sold their house, and bought a RV.

They homeschool their kids and drive around the country and have visited countless national parks, museums, cultural events. They feel they are giving their kids a real education, something they can't get in books. They seemed very, very happy.

1. But no community. No consistent group of friends.

4. well the RV's nowadays
are really like mobile apartments. With cell phones, you can get internet access and telephone to stay in touch with friends. You can also get a satellite tv and radio.

The new ones are pretty nice.

And lots of people don't need a consistent group of friends. They look at life as an adventure and want to meet as many different people as possible. To each their own.

5. Depends on your Temperament and Roots
It's not necessarily true that trading a home for an RV means you have to cut your ties with your friends and society. There is an entire industry of RV parks in nearly every community in the US. Financially, it makes more sense (right now) than selling and buying another home, unless you are trading "down". The housing bubble is definitely bursting. And there is a lot to be said for cutting rather than adding "things" and responsibilities right now.
