The world's most expensive bottled water - US$40 a bottle
Available in US$40 750ml and US$24 350ml versions, the frosted, corked bottles are emblazoned with hand-applied, Swarovski crystals. Not surprisingly, the newspapers are reporting that the Goddess of conspicuous consumption Paris Hilton “has tasted the water” as has her dog Tinkerbell. (she sure gets a lot of press for a gal that don’t do much).

The drink has also shown up at the Grammy's, Emmy's and MTV Video Music Awards in the hands of celebrities such as Jamie Foxx, Mariah Carey and Shaquille O'Neal. Bling H2O is the creation of Hollywood writer-producer Kevin G. Boyd who knows the importance of image and what your choice in bottled water conveys to the public.\

In Hollywood it seems the bottled water one carries has become an important prop and it has become the land of the upmarket waters - bottles are becoming statements of coolness and Bling H2O was fashioned to make a defining statement.

The mission was to offer a product with an exquisite face to match exquisite taste. The product is strategically positioned to target the expanding super-luxury consumer market. Bling H2O has been featured at many recent celebrity events including the MTV Video Music Awards and television’s biggest event, The Emmys.

5. Speaking of bottled water, I was in a store the other day and someone
was telling her friend not to buy bottled water... saying something like "didn't you watch the news about bottled water" -- something I apparently missed. Anyone have a clue what was being discussed?

8. I can shed some light on this subject.
You see, bottled water only has to meet the same generic legal water standards as tap water. In other words, it does not have to be especially clean or pure.

Now, the real key is to know and understand how the water was prepared, if at all, before bottling. The bad brands do not reflect on their labels any of this information.

I buy only Ozarka or Eureka bottled water that has a label explaining how the water was prepared, e.g., distilled with selected minerals added for flavor, or spring water filtered by osmosis, or some such. Sometimes I drink plain old distilled water, on principle.

of scare relating to bottled water.

13. Not in the least, just wondering if anyone had heard about what she
was discussing, because I hadn't :) and this was apparently directly related to bottled water, not the e-coli bit with the veggies.

Anyway, just random curiousity, I'm not really *that* interested, just seemed an apropriate place to ask :)

water supply from it's English Dasana bottling
plant and branding it as pure spring water.

It was local chlorinated bath tub bilgewater. The
joke is the locals were paying 2.25 per bottle for
water they could get out of their own taps for pennies
a gallon. There wasn't a spring within a thousand miles
of the freaking place.

On edit the Dasana brand was pulled from the Canadian
market after the scandal broke. Canadian retails sent
every bottle back the CC and told them their brand was
poison and they would never reorder bottled water from
Coca Cola. The Dasana brand disappeared shortly after.

which may have been Floogeldy's point too, but I thought he was speaking about bottled water in general.

16. I don't even trust Evian. There is no way Eau du Source Evian...

(the original spring) could be producing all the
water they sell.

I come from BC some of the purist water in the
world comes from artesian and glacier sources
here.

On mountain bike rides I've filled my water
bottles in the winter from roadside ditches
on Grouse Mountain.

The water is only an hour away from being pure
rain water and snow melt. Plus I know where it
came from cause I'm riding my bike to where it hit
the ground.

18. Where are you from? Oddly enough Vancouver municipal water is

for shite because we allowed logging illegal
logging in our watershed.

You can go ten miles from the municipal reservoir
and drink pure water out of a ditch during winter
and spring run off.

to Moncton and catch the ferry to Digby and do the
Annapolis Valley and the coast aroung Yarmouth unless
you're hunting in which case NB is for you in the fall.

28. Well, we have passports, and it's the US side we're leery of. There is
the possibility of a 16-yo warrant for a minor traffic thing for one of the potential members of the party.

29. If the traffic offense was in Canada there are no digital FEDERAL

Records earlier than 1992 and that's for income
tax.

Also in Canada you cannot be arrested for
outstanding traffic offenses. You may be cited
for failure to appear but it is very unlikely
that a bench warrant was issued for a traffic
offense.

Canadian Border guards are employees of Canada
Customs. They ask for ID, your purpose for visiting
Canada and if you have any outstanding Criminal
Code Warrants in Canada.

Traffic offenses do not even fall under Provincial
Jurisdiction. They are a matter for municipal court
only.

Traffic fines don't count for shite up here. I've
beaten three myself because the cops don't bother
to turn in their charge sheets in case they have to
give up a day off to show up in court.

32. There's no scare really
A lot of bottled water is municipal tap water with maybe some extra filtering. I don't buy bottled water unless I am going somewhere where there is no readily available water. It is a complete waste of money.

concerns about the plastic leaking (chemicals) into the water?

Or about the privatization of water?

34. You mean you don't have a funnel?
Come on. You know what's going to happen.

You give this guy $40 for a bottle of Bling Water. You drink the Bling Water.

And then you break out your funnel and refill the Bling Bottle with Deer Park at $2.50 per gallon, or the water we sell in five gallon jugs for $6.50, or you just hold it under the tap for 25 cents per thousand gallons.

Oh, thanks for sending the link. There was another link inside the Bling Water story...

http://www.zcorp.com/products/printersdetail.asp?ID=1

man, I want one of these! It's a "3-D Printer." It makes solid models out of plastic from 3-d CAD files. The entertainment and entrepreneurial potential of a machine that can print Real Objects from your computer cannot be understated, and they only want $20,000 for this machine. For a toy that's outrageous, but if you're going to sell what it produces it's not bad.
