Baby hair color starting dark brown-->dirty blonde-->light brown? |
|
I found some baby pictures of me the other day. When I was born I had a full head of very dark brown hair, almost black. There are a couple of pictures like this. Then there's another, taken 10 months later. My hair is on the light side of dirty blonde. A little lighter than what's normally considered dirty blonde, pretty light. It stayed like this for the next 8 or so years, then finally started to darken up again to medium brown hair.
Our family was pretty po' back when I was born so there are very few pictures of me as a baby/toddler. They're all signed and dated by my late mother so I know they're all me. ;-)
Is that normal? To start off really dark (much darker than my current hair), then lighten up alot pretty quickly (by the time I was 10 months old), then get darker again (around 8-9) years old?

My granddaughter's hair at birth was very black, then changed to a lighter brown/black, and now, at age 4, it's brown, mixed with blond and red highlights.

2. I had a massive amount of jet black hair for a baby (think: baby Suri) |
|
and it ended up being dark brown.
My sister had black hair then light brown hair and it ended up being very dark brown.

4. Thanks! Ok, I have to admit I've never heard of color changes like... |
|
...that before and it seemed kind of...odd. Very cool.

born with a shock of black hair, it fell out and i had a head of straw-blonde hair when i was a toddler. since then it's been gradually making it's way back to black. i always had very fine hair but over the last few years i've been getting more and more thick, coarse and slightly kinky black hairs.
i predict i will have inherited the family jew fro within the next ten years

6. That's wild! I always wanted curlier hair, even as curly as... |
|
..."Jewfro"/"Afro". I have slightly wavy hair and I always wanted something with a bit more body that I could have a little more fun with! I know it must be a pain in the ass sometimes but still...

7. I had white-blond hair until I was about eight... |
|
...then it gradually darkened into a dirty mid-brown until my family trait set in and I was mostly grey by my late 20s.
There are some unfortunate pictures of me taken when I was about three in what look disturbingly like lederhosen. I look like some kind of miniture Hitler youth. Very odd.

8. You are really a different person. There is a nefarious Bush plot |
|
behind it. Things like that just don't happen, what are you, a "coincidence theorist?" You've obviously been swapped for a different person. Probably you were killed in a US military raid and just don't remember it.

My sister had black hair at birth, was a tow-head by age two, and ended up dirty blonde.
Most babies that I've known were born with dark hair, but it changed later when their real hair grew in. Hair color often darkens as a child gets older.

11. I think I've covered the spectrum of blond. |
|
I started out with brown hair, went to almost a platinum blond and stayed there until I was about 5 or 6, then went to golden blond, where I stayed until my 30's. I started staying out of the sun, so my hair went kind of dirty blond unless I'm standing in strong light. Then it looks blond, and people compliment me on my highlights.:D I'm a throw-back, 'cause my parent both had the dark Irish look.

12. It's gone the other way for me |
|
I had platinum blonde hair as a child. It gradually grew darker. In the summertime, with lots of sun, it still approaches something that might be the borderline between brown and blonde, but in winter it's just a dull, mousy brown.

13. I was born with a full head of curly black hair. |
|
My mother tells me that at about one year the black started to fall out and my childhood white blonde started growing in, from the bottom up. I must have been a sight. By the time I graduated from high school I had strawberry blonde hair and I've colored it ever since. No idea what color it is now but I'm sure there is a lot of grey.

16. It happens al the time |
|
My kids were both born with black hair and now my DD, age 20, is a medium brown and DS, age 19, is a blonde. DH, FIL, MIL and SIL all were born with black hair. Three of them (FIL, MIL and SIL) stayed black and DH ended up going ashe blonde as a kid and then to medium brown as an adult.
