ode to the late night sausage cart |
|
He is there, where you are just outside the bar Grilling his meat and steaming his rolls folks standing in line to be raked over the coals
I'm such a sucker for his tempting fare seven bucks is too much but I'm too drunk to care
so hand one to me cause I'm next in line charred meat awaits and it is sublime

1. Beautiful. It reminds me of... |

...the late night kebab vans outside pubs when I was a student in London. Overpriced and evil, yet irresistable too.
My tummy and its tapeworms thank you.

2. A story regarding these wonderful carts... |
|
I was in Boston visiting friends and we were out bar hopping. We came out of this bar after last call and there was a sausage cart!! We all ordered sausages and they were so, so good.
Next night, we go to the Celtics game and drink many beers. As I am walking out of Boston Garden I say to my friend, "Man, I could go for one of those Italian sausages like we had last night."
We get outside and we can smell onions and peppers. We look down the street and see a sausage cart -- we run as fast as we can!
When we got to the cart, we see that the guy running this cart is the same guy we bought sausages from the previous night!!
He looks at us and says, "You guys liked my sausages so much that you followed me down here?"
You bet your ass we did!!
In the immortal words of Homer Simpson:
"Oh sausage cart...how could I ever be mad at you??"
