Singer/songwriter/producer Curtis Mayfield dies at age 57.

RIP, Brother Curtis! We miss you still.

People get ready, there's a train comin'
You don't need no baggage, you just get on board
All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin'
You don't need no ticket you just thank the lord

People get ready, there's a train to Jordan
Picking up passengers coast to coast
Faith is the key, open the doors and board them
There's hope for all among those loved the most
There ain't no room for the hopeless sinner
Who would hurt all mankind
Just to save his own
Have pity on those whose chances grow thinner
For there is no hiding place against the kingdoms throne

People get ready there's a train comin'
You don't need no baggage, just get on board
All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin'
You don't need no ticket, just thank the lord.

3. Great song.
Whether the original, or any of the many cover versions.. Rod Stewart & Jeff Beck (last decent thing Rod Stewart recorded), U2 (on various bootlegs), and let's not forget Bob Marley's somewhat mutated (but in a good way) rendition.

And when that train comes 'round, I expect you'll see Curtis & Bob ridin in the same passenger car

5. The Chambers Brothers did a nice version of it, as well.

In 1968, if memory serves.

4. I love that song.
Especially the Jeff Beck/Rod Stewart version. (I've been a huge Jeff Beck fan since I was in high school.)

And I absolutely loved Curtis' "Superfly" album. Used to listen to that all the time back in 1973. "Superfly" "Freddie's Dead" "I'm Your Pusher" Great stuff.
