More painting junk. My painting of Nixon announcing his resignation
that I did a few years ago is probably going to be hanging in the political art show that the Utrecht art supply near 12th & Everett NW is opening on Thursday. I think it's 14" x 18". Tried to capture that stunned, wounded moment. Also tried to price the painting not to sell, but if it goes I'll just have to deal with that, and I'll chuck the money into my Roth IRA.

3. Thanks.
I think I should do one of him saying "Sock it to me!" on Laugh In. Wonder if I could find a still.

Might have to get rich and spend a week at the Museum of Television looking for that.

2. that's pretty good!
it reminds me of my adolescence. I had to have surgery and I was stuck in the hospital watching the Watergate hearings....

5. Oh, I think we talked about that once.
Instead of playing little league baseball that summer, I stayed inside willingly and watched the hearings.

Really pissed off my dad, who thought I should be more interested in sports like he and my brother were. But you couldn't tear me away from that Watergate business when I was 12 and 13.

but they don't make hearings like that anymore!

So, did you decide to dress up and go to a party? (we had ours on Sat. it was fun.) I love when people dress up in silly costumes. The kids were adorable. I got to see a great drag Morticia and my kid's ex-babysitter came as Freddie Mercury. It was cool.

Fun holiday for the ones with the kids, though, eh?

it's actually going pretty ok. I may even find it in my cold dead heart to dress up as the proletariat and hand out propaganda to children at the door.

 Good job, swag.

I remember watching the resignation and doing a crayon drawing on the back of a 3x5 index card during it. I captioned it "Tricky Dicky." Heh.

8. Wow, I wish you still had that crayon drawing to post here.
I did an etch-a-sketch of Nixon once myself that I was pretty proud of. Then my fuckin' brother shook the Etch-a-sketch and erased it.

23. He would be difficult to paint, but I would love to commemorate any
further (and one assumes accelerating) deterioration in his position as the barricaded imperial intrusive dictator he so fancies himself to be.

I probably wouldn't do any representation of that hideous, delusional, self-justified, lying sebaceous face of his, though. I couldn't stomach to do that without the intercession of many decades.

43. I studied him hard when I was a whipper.
I was a big fan of his when my Air Force dad shipped off to Thailand in 1968, when I was 7.

Nixon was going to fix things. Bring my dad home.

Little did I know how bad Nixon would become.

Little did I know how we would pine for him now.

exactly.

Still, he was the beginning of the long slide.

He planted the seeds of audacious and loathsome defiance of the Constitution.

These guys began their Executive Branch careers under Nixon:
