3. I went to about 30 houses
Taking my 4 y/o with a friend and her daughter. It was crazy where we were, but the town kind of goes all out. Some homes even have haunted walks and tents set up. Funny to see in fundamentalist Red Indiana.

7. It was. Totally wiped out the kid :)
She was asleep veeeerrrry early for her. Even after eating some of the candy. Oh, and did I forget to mention that one house gave out bags of COTTON CANDY? I kid you not! I have never seen anything like it. That was a popular house tonight!

10. If I was there I would have turned my whole house into a haunted house.
And let everyone go through it for FREE as many times as they want. Of course it would be so scary they probably wouldn't go through again. My haunted houses are truly frightening. Kids usually come out crying. But then they come back 30 minutes later with their friends and try to get their friends to go in.

16. A record number in our 6 years here: 20 kids in costume!
The last 5 years, we've seen ZERO 3 times, and had a
high of 3 last year.

But this year, we had a bunch!

We have a new neighbor with 3 daughters. Her littlest girl (12 or 13)teamed
up with the other little girl from 2 doors down (14, IIRC) and led
a whole horde of toddlers to our door!

It was just about the cutest thing I ever did see! The littlest one was
just a babe in arms, who said "tank ooo" as she took a box of Junior Mints.

Most surprising fact of the night: Given a choice between a bowl of candy
and an identical bowl of Braeburn apples...3 kids went for the apple!

Ranging from toddlers in their parent's arms, to pre-teens.....

Most of them were in costume, and very cute!

All had good manners, too.......

I love Halloween!

my husband ALWAYS waits until the 31st to buy candy...I got a phone call today at 430pm, it went something like this:

Him (H): Do you know what I am going to ask you?

Me (m): No.

H: yes you do, what is it?

m: seriously? I don't know, 'what's for dinner?'

H: No....What day is it?

m: Oh...you are asking if I bought candy?

H: (laughs) yes.

m: Hell no. We never get any trick or treaters, and it's a pain in the ass. I am not buying any.

H: Yes! We have to! We moved since last time, maybe we'll get some this year.

m: Well then you buy it, you hand it out, you deal with the dog barking, I ain't doing shit. No one is coming anyway, we'll just have candy for movies for the whole next year. Our street is steep, kids won't walk up it, our front door is one flight up, and we are one of the last three houses on a dead end. give it up.

H: You know, you should be more sensitive, I didn't get to do Halloween when i was a kid. (insert violins here)

m: You should dress up with me and go to a party instead.

H: No, that's stupid.

He bought four bags of candy, the good kind. Two lonely kids, one knock on the door, and it was over.

23. Probably got about 20-25.
More than I expected, actually. But I had no idea what to expect because I just bought the place in January.

It was fun. My cousin (who is also my roomate) and I bought lots of candy and had a little Simpson's "Treehouse of Horror" mini-marathon going on the DVD player.

A few minutes after nine, I looked up and down the block, didn't see anyone else coming, and turned out the lights. My two neighbors on either side had already done the same.

32. Oh, that's funny. We had a haunted trail in our backyard!
I doubt it had any impact on you, though!

It was a relatively quiet Halloween. A hundred kids at best, maybe not that many. We gave out handfuls of candy to get rid of it, and there is now none in the house, except for what my youngest son collected. :)

Started with 144 bags of popcorn gave out all but ten.

Our neighbor sets up a haunted house in his yard complete with music and lights. Kids come from miles around to see it and we get a lot of residual traffic from his place.

36. I posted this same question on another web site, and someone replied with:
"I really lost count after 30. It always amazes me that people come trick or treating from all over, not just my town. I live in rural Connecticut, and we get people from 20 miles away. These parents just load up the Range Rover (barf) with as many kids as possible and stock up on candy until next year.

Some of costumes were really hysterical, and since it was warmer than usual, skimpier outfits were popular with the women. A woman dressed as Bree from Desperate Housewives showed up with two girls and a boy. One of the daughters was maybe 10-12 and was dressed as Paris Hilton in one of her sluttiest outfits, i was in shock! One boy who must have been 13 showed up dressed in a fat suit with a black wig and fake mustache and when i asked who he was he said "Ron Jeremy"!!!! Where the fuck do kids learn this shit?

But the real kicker was a family of four showing up and the son, who was probably 14 or so, was dressed as Marilyn Monroe in that white dress from the Seven Year Itch. I mean full on drag to the max, his mother obviously helped him with it as she seemed quite thrilled. The father did'nt say a word. As soon as i closed the door i fell over laughing. At least this kid won't have to bother thinking of the best way to come out! Gotta give the kid credit for having guts to do that, but still it was beyond funny. Next year, i'm taking pictures at Halloween."

39. about 150.. one group of about 35-40 kids together.
I've never seen the town cop follow a group of kids before..but he was driving slowly and following that group. They looked to be maybe Jr. high age.

I saw a lot of very young children..like under 3-4 and lots & lots of older teenagers last night. It always makes me smile to see the older teens.

and..I didn't get one dog. My dog waited patiently at the door so we could give doggie treats to doggie friends. :(

most people in my neighborhood just sit on the porch or outside where they can pass out candy without having to jump up and down constantly. It was raining lightly but that didn't seem to cut down on the crowd.
