New Series from Chick Publications

Christian workers have been telling us for some time that their work among blacks would be much more effective if they had Chick tracts where the characters in the story were black. Black people on the street are more receptive to black characters than Caucasian.

Pastor Jerry Thornton, who pastors a black church in Southern California tried some of the tracts in his ministry before they were officially released. He says, "The black tracts were especially useful to tell the people of color that they are special enough for Chick Publications to make a special edition of the tract line just for them. They often feel neglected and marginalized and appreciate the special attention when it is given."

Beginning this month, we are rolling out a new tract series with the same story but with black characters. We have taken some of our most popular Chick tracts and redrawn them with black characters. To avoid confusion in ordering, we have renamed them. This Was Your Life has become It’s Your Life. Somebody Loves Me is called Hard Times. Allah Had No Son is Who Is Allah? and Best Friend is now Soul Sisters.

I remember reading one of the other ones when I was little - it fucked my head up. Fundies were really big in my area when I was growing - black and white, it did'nt matter. I can't believe I believed the stuff that I heard when I was little but I did'nt know any better - now I just laugh. But to each their own.

I think he'd felt a little more love if that girl had taken him to her church, got him some food and clothes and called protective services to come get him.

If I saw a child like that on the street I'd find food, water & a police officer immediately. Food & Water so that the child can get some nourishment and a police officer to insure that there are no parents around who happened to have misplaced their child (it happens, kids get separated).

I would do that IMMEDIATELY!

12. I learned last night that Chick Tracts are also perfect

when you need something besides sweets to hand out to trick or treaters.
My daughter received four of them last night in her candy.
