What was it that Kerry said, now? |
|
I honestly haven't had a chance to watch any television and I'm on dialup, so downloading videos is a weekends only activity. What did I miss?

2. I figured it was nothing. |

Oddly enough, nothing is precisely what they tend to get THE MOST upset about most of the time.
Thanks for telling me. I heard something about him saying something about troops, but I immediately thought, it was probably no big thing.
Rethugs sure like to stay upset a lot, don't they?

or something along those lines. Pretty foot-in-mouth stuff. Big deal or not it was a creepy thing to say.

12. That is not at all what he said. He said being a C student, |
|
meaning * since that was who he was talking about, gets people stuck in Iraq. And, naturally, the rethugs twisted it to mean that Kerry was calling our troops dumb. So, but their own definition, if C students are "dumb", then that must mean our "leader" is dumb.

You're recycling Republican spin. He was saying Bush didn't do his homework and is not smart. Definitely not the troops. He was misconstrued by Bush so they would have something to complain about.

end up in Iraq. Meaning, you end up in the current situation; where our country is embroiled in the situation there, due to Bush and the others not paying attention. However, as phrased, the right-wingers are claiming "end up in Iraq" refers to military members failing in school and having to join the military and being sent to Iraq.

9. Posts 3 & 4 let me know that even DU-ers don't know what's |
|
going on! Exasperating, truly exasperating. :banghead:
Kerry gave a speech to students in CA and said this:
"You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq.''
This is how it was supposed to have gone:
"I can't overstress the importance of a great education. Do you know where you end up if you don't study, if you aren't smart, if you're intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq."
He was NOT talking about the troops, he was implying that Bush had not done his homework and now the U.S. is stuck in Iraq.

didn't take the time to read it before commenting. I'm normally pretty easy-going about things said here, but you've really, really, really pissed me off, by doing exactly what you incorrectly claimed I was doing.

Bush is getting his morning briefing on the war in Iraq, when Rumsfeld reports that, "Three Brazilian soldiers were killed yesterday."
Bush goes white and looks extremely distraught. Rumsfeld pauses for a moment, but when Bush starts looking even worse, he asks, "Are you alright, Mr. President?"
Bush says, "That's just terrible, awful. This is horrible."
Stunned at Bush's reaction, Rumsfeld pauses in silence.
Finally, Bush asks, "How many is a brazillion?"
