Going to Vegas!!! Ask me anything!!! Tell me anything!!!!
The company I work for has had a mind-bogglingly successful year, and as a reward, is sending our entire engineering group (11 of us) to Vegas for a three day all expenses paid party! Wives. Kids. Everyone! How cool is that? Staying at the Paris Hotel. Anyone been there? My wife and I are a bit on the wild side and are up for some outrageous fun. We intend to make it a weekend to remember! Any suggestions for a good time?

1. Don't miss the opportunity to photograph the fountain pond at the Bellagio!
Here are the times:
http://www.bellagio.com/pages/attrac_highfountain_noflash.asp

Just be ready to walk a lot because there's much to see and do. And cabs are available everywhere for a quick, and usually inexpensive, ride to places.

(Love the Fremont Street Experience)

And good advice re: Security issues while in Vegas;

2. If your wife is going, then hit the Zoomanity show at NYNY.
It's billed as "THE SENSUAL SIDE OF CIRQUE DU SOLEIL…ZUMANITY, a provocative exhibition of human sensuality, arousal and eroticism".

It is amazing to watch, but I must give you a word of warning...do NOT try their moves back in the hotel room afterwords! You'll hurt yourself and your wife. :)

If you're gambling for fun, learn and play Craps. It may not have the best odds, but it's the noisier party table and I everyone is mostly winning or losing together.

Have fun.

Got a couch for the early show on Saturday! Looks like great fun!!! I have a feeling my wife is going to love this. (I'm keeping it as a surprise!) I read there is audience participation of some kind. What's that all about?

Audience participation....the performers will sit on audience members' laps, etc. Nothing outrageous or anything. It is very fun!

14. Thanks Divameow
I was in Vegas about 15 years ago and had a blast. I hear it's all changed since then so it'll be a whole new experience I guess. My wife's never been. So this will be a real treat for both of us.

10. Only play blackjack or craps
Basic strategy for blackjack (they will let you use one of the strategy cards you get at the gift shop at the table if you don't have it memorized).

For craps, keep it simple. Only play the pass line, and mabye buy a 6 or 8. They have free instruction classes in the morning in pretty much any casino. Ignore the craps dealers - they will try to pressure you into sucker bets.

13. Set yourself a limit for how much will be spent on gambling
And if you happen to win big - cash out and walk away!

17. LOL
Yeah, we'll set a limit but actually we'll probably just do slots and maybe a little blackjack. Gambling doesn't have much appeal for some reason, but we're planning to go out to the clubs and see some shows.

20. Play video poker instead of slots.
Paris has some machines that have 99.2% payout. Tropicana down the street has some 100% payouts and the Hilton has some at 100.1%.

}(

if you really are a bit on the "wild" side.........

Try to visit some casinos off the strip, like Red Rock Casino

22. off-the-strip Las Vegas
Yeah, we sometimes like to go off the beaten path, for sure. Whenever we travel, we enjoy exploring together and making discoveries. Since you brought it up, I'm wondering what Vegas is like at the off-the-strip casinos like the Red Rock? Is it more like the "old Vegas"? Is the Red Rock near any other interesting clubs or casinos? And what about dance clubs? Any recommendations?

19. Buy a Monorail pass
You still have to do a bit of walking, but it's the cheapest way to get from one end of the strip to the other.

Couple of good shows. Avenue Q at Winn is hilarious! Think "R-Rated" muppets. If you like musicals, or more specifically, ABBA music, Mama Mia is lots of fun too.

Freemont Experience downtown is lots of fun and very relaxed. If you're brave, try a Deep Fried Twinkie down there.

25. Monorail Pass
I suppose I'll be able to buy a pass at one of the hotel concessions?

An R-rated muppet show! lol! I love it. I've always loved puppet theater! Everything from traditional Indonesian Water puppets to Jerry Mahoney to Jim Hanson! Yes, that DOES sound like a fun idea. :applause:

AND...

I shamelessly admit to liking ABBA music.
In their time Abba produced some of the finest kitsch dance music of the last three centuries. :-) You can quote me on that.

AND...

A Deep Fried Twinkie???
I'm not going to touch that one!

24. If you have time, take in a Blue Man Group show.
I saw them @ the Venetian in July. LOVED the show.

And wear comfortable walking shoes if you plan on walking along The Strip.

When are you going?

We're leaving tomorrow for the weekend, staying at the Venetian.

Paris has an INCREDIBLE restaurant (the one at the top, it overlooks the Bellagio and is GORGEOUS) and the food is superb. Don't miss it.

32. See the Cirque du Soleil/Beatles "Love" show at the Mirage.
Edited on Thu Nov-02-06 05:07 PM by Seabiscuit
If you every liked a Beatles song, you'll LOVE this show! Funtastic!

And if you want to make money playing slots, the only place to play is on the Majestic Lion machines right next to the main elevators at the MGM Grand. Best Thursday thru Saturday.

My wife and I have stayed at the Paris 2-3 times a year since it opened - love it! Don't miss a meal at Mon Ami Gabi - the only sidewalk cafe in Vegas - where you can take in the Bellagio fountain shows. Also, the Paris Buffet is the best in town.

If you like "the wild side" try Studio 54 at the MGM Grand and "Rumjungle" at Mandalay Bay.
