Can you recommend a good GPS system for a car? |
|
I had posted several weeks back that I wanted to get one for my wife to put in her car. Despite having 2 master's degrees and 2 undergraduate degrees, she is honestly in danger of getting lost every time she goes further than our driveway.
So, are there any good car mounted GPS systems that are good, reliable and easy to install that you can recommend? Something with vocal directions would be nice(i.e., "Turn left here.")
Thanks

It's a GPS that also has a Palm organizer, which you may or may not need. The 3600 is now discontinued. I'd definitely go with something from Garmin. Great products, superb customer service. http://www.garmin.com/products/iQue3600/

7. I can recommend one NOT to buy. |
|
I won't say it here, but it's very widely advertised and hubby has had nothing but trouble with it. I know of a few others who had much the same complaint.
Complaints to the company yielded nastiness, being thrown in eight different directions when we escalated the problem, finally up to the director of US operations--and the replacement STILL doesn't work.
I won't mention it here, but if you want to know, PM me.

9. Try your state's Dept. of Consumer Protection |
|
or whatever it is called. I have found the one in Connecticut works far better than the Better Business Bureau.

10. I have and highly recommend the TomTom GO 700 |
|
it's very easy to use and very functional, with bluetooth capability as well for hands-free telephone calling. It easily mounts on the windshield and it has some neat features.
Visit www.tomtom.com for more info.

13. Are they easy to use & hook up? |
|
That's what I'm most concerned about.

just plug them into the cigarette lighter.
They came with a windshield mount, basically a flexible metal rod with a sucker at one end to stick to the glass.
I ended up buying some Arkon flexible shafts and attaching them to bolts holding the driver's seat in place; I was uncomfortable having them visible through the windshield whenever I'd park the car.
