Canned Tuna is undisputable proof that Satan walks amongst us
Why I eat that crap is beyond me and I love Tuna. Hell I'll eat it raw (sushi). But the stuff in can just blows chunks!

3. Because tuna is so expensive
it's hard to believe they turn perfectly good tuna into cheap "canned tunafish." I just don't get it.

6. Somehow I think
it's not the perfectly good parts that end up in the cans. Also splains why it's not very chunky anymore. I remember when you used to have to really break it up. Now it's like it's shredded.

19. I'm with you there; but, this is where I lose most
people. Mix it with just a little Mayo and fresh ground black pepper; spread thinly on toasted white bread. Cut sandwich in half and dunk in your favorite Root Beer or Cola. Hey, if you don't like it, come see me in Louisiana and I'll replace your drink.

12. Tongol is great
Bumblebee and Chicken Sea make me sick now. Tongol is just as cheap but it tastes great. Albacore is best, but you pay for it.

14. Most canned tuna has soy added now
And I couldn't figure out for awhile why suddenly I didn't like tuna. I'd open a can, mix it up, get grossed out and throw it away. My cat wouldn't even eat it! Finally I read the ingredients --- now who'da thunk to do that? Tuna in water, or tuna in oil, right? Nope! Well, I find some Kirlands' albacore tuna at Costco that doesn't say it has soy in it, so I can still have my occasional tuna.

And my cat likes it too.

And I mix in mayo (REAL!), sweet pickle relish, finely chopped onion, green pepper, celery, and a touch of cayenne or salsa. It is just to die for (ONCE in awhile!) on crackers, toast, mixed with a little cooked pasta, or just with a fork.

15. I feel that way about Salmon.
After spending time in Alaska many a year ago, i got used to eating good fresh Salmon. Now the stuff in the can is a crime to me.

For some reason i don't have the same feelings about can Tuna. I have never eaten fresh, even on Sushi and i've been to Japan lol!

16. No pun, I promise, but did tuna jump the shark at some point?
Seriously, one of my fave lunches was canned tuna in pocket bread. No mayo, no seasonings, just the tuna, it was oily and DELICIOUS!

Now it's like, even the tuna packed in oil, seems bland.

Or maybe it's because the salt was removed? I just don't know.

Solid pack in olive oil is the way to go. Never EVER buy the cheap stuff.

24. Zingerman's sells good tinned tuna.
The white albacore packed in water is kind of a staple for me now that I am dieting. It's quick and I mix it with tons of vegetables, grapes, pepperoncini peppers and some lemon juice and garlic salt.

I wish I could used the oil packed because it is much firmer...but I am eliminating fat.

25. I like it

I read that albacore is worst for mercury, has more in it I guess... also packed in oil is supposed to be better than packed in water, again, for mercurial reasons.

Also I thought I read that it was bad for cats... but they sure love it.

26. Moderation is the key, even for cats
I give my cat tuna when I open a can, a TEENY bit of raw salmon when I buy it (which is pretty rarely) and some chopped up shrimp when I have it -- he sure is crazy for shrimp and raw salmon! Doesn't mind the occasional canned green been, either, but mostly he gets canned and dry cat food.

But I forgot about fresh tuna! Fresh caught tuna, still wriggling in the pan! (Okay, how about caught the same day or the day before?)

It is light years away from canned tuna, and everyone must try it when you get a chance. It is excellent.

28.  The store brand canned tuna I buy is very good
"Western Family" for anyone who goes to an independently owned grocery store in California, Oregon, maybe Washington(?)that carries this brand. It's firmly packed "whorls" of tuna, not all that mushy chopped-up-bits stuff.
