Death metal bands. Name some good ones for me.
A friend of mine needs some for whatever the hell it is he's up to, and I don't listen to metal. As a result, I seek the infinite wisdom of the DU lounge.

The darker, the better.

1. "I seek the infinite wisdom of the DU lounge."
But can you find it amid the infinite nonsense?

13. GWAR was an art school project
Edited on Thu Nov-02-06 04:09 PM by ZombyWoof
Or that is, it started out that way, and with a contract and some publicity, they hit the road and made a few albums.

Slymenstra Hymen (Danielle Stampe) is my age, and because our last names are alphabetically close, she was in my homeroom throughout high school and we rode the same bus, lol.

She went on to VCU in Richmond as a fashion marketing major, and was recruited by a friend of hers in the art department to help create a final project. His punk band became GWAR, which is really just a goof - they're more parody or homage than an actual 'band'.

8. Morbid Angel is the greatest of the genre
I heavily (no pun) recommend their "Blessed Are The Sick" or "Covenant" albums.

Celtic Frost are the creators of the genre. They are still at it, and their new album is reportedly good.

Sepultura is good - "Beneath The Remains".

You can't go wrong with Carcass.

Cannibal Corpse is viciously dark.

For sheer brutality and darkness, go with Malevolent Creation.
