I wish my weather radio had better judgment!
Actually it's the weather service that's the problem. I bought the radio so I could be warned of serious weather like wind storms or tornadoes. The problem is that it goes off if anything is happening for 15 counties around. I really don't need to be warned about weather in Binghamton, Buffalo or Albany when I live north of Syracuse. Also, even if it is a lake effect storm in November, 2" of snow DOES NOT warrant a warning in Upstate New York! Maybe in DC or Atlanta, heck, maybe in NYC but not up here! The leaves are down and this is normal weather for us. I wish I could post a picture of the Oshkosh plows the county runs!

1. Nobody would even notice 2 inches of snow in Minnesota.
:D

2. Right - I hear the warning beeps and klaxon, and I get ready to
make an emergency run to lay in three day's supply of milk, then I hear the announcement that I should expect 2"! That's not a storm, that's thick rain!

4. They do make weather radios
now that are more specific and only go off when severe weather is effecting only your county.

How can I toss it as long as it works!

6. It's obviously not working
the way you want it to. Donate it to a shelter for their use and buy you another one.

7. That wouldn't be nice to send my over anxious radio to
disturb the people at the shelter. I think I'll keep this one and just bitch about it from time to time.

8. And those weather radios are LOUD
It doesn't matter whether you have a radio that's specific to your little area or to a few counties around. They always go off when there's a severe weather advisement SOMEWHERE around you, and it seems like the alarms are designed to wake the dead.

We tend to keep ours turned off unless there's a possibility of severe weather in the next few days. That's about the only way we can keep our sanity. But that little radio has been of enormous help to us, often alerting us to imminent storms we didn't even see coming.
