I hate when people stream music on personal pages. |
|
Myspace being the best example. Is there anyway for people to have them default in the off position? x(

1. Each person can set the music on their own page |
|
so that it's off and must be turned on, or it's on and must be turned off.
I don't think there's any way to set your browsing preferences so that you don't hear the music except by turning off your speakers.

2. Myspace uses Flash for the audio hell.. |
|
Firefox: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/and Flashblock do the trick: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/433/Flashblock gives you a little play button to play something that is Flash.

3. OOOH!!! YOU PUSHED THE WRONG BUTTON, PAL!!!! |
|
I get SO many evil thoughts when it comes to the person(s) who came up with this truly offensive feature.
And it's not just flash or java (which I have particular loathings for in and of themselves but I won't go there now), it's that STUPID MIDI that drives me nuts!!!!
What's WORSE is to group-google embedded audio and lurk about some of the threads discussing this; there's always some arrogant "web designer" who HAS THE NERVE to feel affronted because of the notion that perhaps there are some surfers who may not appreciate the MIDI version of "You Needed Me" on some vanity Geocities site.
grrrrr...

I loved adding them to my webpages...
... you know, when I was 12. :eyes:
What really annoys me about embeded music is that I usually listen to my own music while I'm on the internet. I really, really don't need someone else's music blasting over mine when I'm not expecting it.

7. Oh, without question. And what's the point??? Are we supposed to |
|
exclaim a big collective "KEWL!!!!! ARRRRSOME DYOOOD!!!!"???
Even on band websites, it's such a cliche not to mention when the screen goes black and graphics slide from the right/left to the center. Again, are we supposed to be bowled over by this "INNOVATION"? OK, MAYYYYYBE I was impressed the first 8,000 times I've seen this but now it truly is yesterday's news on the floor catching paint drippings.
Did I mention that my favorites links are "Skip Intro" and "No thanks, just take me to the site"?

5. Yeah, you can set it to not play profile songs automatically. |
|
Though I recommend letting my profile song play automatically just because Every Time I Die are fucking awesome. :P

Just when we thought the days of the obnoxious late-90s Angelfire and GeoCities sites had become just a bad memory.
I wonder if some of the people who put up those obnoxious, garish profiles even visit them to see if they can load on their own computers? I swear, a Cray Supercomputer probably couldn't load some of that shit!
