What's your obscure musical love of the moment?
I've been listening to Portugal. The Man's album "Waiter: 'You vultures!'" and it's kicking my ass.

2. Blodwyn Pig

This is a really great album if you're into early 70s jazzy prog rock. I'd only come across these guys in the past several months.

3. Musica Obscura
That's pretty obscure. Good album though.
Obscure is relative but some not soooooo popular albums I've added to my collection recently are

Sparklehorse: It's a wonderful life
Pine Box Boys: Arkansas Killing Time
Neutral Milk Hotel: In The Aeroplane
The National: Alligator
Destroyer: This Night
Built to Spill: Perfect from Now On
16 Horsepower: Folklore

I mean, you could have heard of all of these but maybe not. Good listening.

I've been getting in good hip hop (not much of that anymore) but there's

Clipse: Lord Willin'
Ghostface Killer: Supreme Clientele
Mobb Deep: Murd Muzik
Young Buck: Straight outa cashville

5. Supreme Clientele is a killer album
Ghostface is probably my favourite Wu-Tang member. There's plenty of good hip-hop out there, you just need to dig.

I'll check out the rest. I'm familiar with Built To Spill, but the rest are new to me.

(Welcome to DU, by the way.)

15. Wow, Sparklehorse...
I had a friend long ago who did roadie stuff for them. He said a band member had "passed out" or something and had lost his nerves in his leg(s) I think. :( Long time ago...not sure if I'm getting the story straight.

11. I love The Strokes.
I think they were really underrated as a result of all the buzz they got initially. (If that makes sense, haha.)

A friend of mine has a bit of an obsession with Hellogoodbye, haha.

I'm not even slightly kidding.

On edit: search Soulseek for Current 93, Death in June, Blood Axis and/or Sol Invictus.

17. Right now my favorite indy band is the Silversun Pickups.
They kind of remind me of The Pixies and Sonic Youth in some ways. Definitely one of the best indy bands out there.

I think both The Thermals and Silversun have better songs than these, but alas, my choice of videos is limited on the internets!

On edit: Thanks for turning me on to Portugal. I think that video is even better than the song!

On edit edit: How hot is that uber-cutie bassist for The Thermals?

23. This... I just found this site a few days ago.
http://dogwhatdog.multiply.com/music

We used to watch Artless Motives, The Hoogendoorns, The Rudundants, and Piss Pants all the time. Oh kegs in a basement. Eugene used to have a good scene.. in 93

Artless Motives is my favorite. I used to be the drummers boss at a movie theater. None of these guys would care if you download the mp3's.. I just talked to the drummer for Artless Motives and he doesn't care.
