Had my wisdom teeth yanked Wednesday.
They took away my wisdom. They said that the wisdom could affect the other not wise teeth. Why is this bad?

I feel robbed, and empty.

2. LOL.
I took half a hydrocodone about 2 hours ago. I thought that would help.

:D

3. Don't let the pain appear....
It is much more difficult to get it to go away. Take a pill before it hurts. And take a bong hit.. Oh just kidding about that. Don't smoke anything for a week or so.. That can be really bad news.

Mine were a piece of cake.. Just don't smoke, take your pills, and get lots of sleep.. And clean the ice cream off your chin.

4. Yeah, it started to hurt a little earlier.
All in all, the whole deal was much less painful than I thought. I am a bit uncomfortable and sore, but not too bad. In the day, I took Alieve instead of the hydrocodone. I don't want to go all Limbaugh here just over some plucked teeth.

:D

5. I had my uppers extracted in August. I can relate.
My mouth felt emptier and for about 2 weeks afterwards, I kept biting the insides of my cheeks and my tongue...pretty badly, too, sometimes. Ouch!! It was a weird side-effect of getting used to less teeth.

For some reason, I felt compelled to have the doc save my wisdom teeth for me, so I could take them home. I have them now, but I'm not quite sure what to do with them. :D

The vicodin was a nice little perk, though. Did you get some good meds?

7. They wouldn't let me save mine.
I asked for them so I could get some money from the tooth fairy.

They gave me 20 hydrocodone. I think I have taken 5 or 6 of them. Those suckers knock me the hell out.

13. How strange that they wouldn't let you keep your own teeth!!
That's bizarre. They're YOURS, afterall. I specifically asked to have mine back and it was no problem.

Be careful with those meds, btw, they can cause real problems with constipation. Trust me, I know. :hurts: Drink lots and lots of water.

Good luck with the continued recovery, nytemare! :hi:

15. Yeah, I am not sure why they didn't let me keep them.
I suppose I am not taking enough of them to cause that problem. I have been drinking a bunch of Crystal Light, hope that does the same.

Now, I miss my teeth...LOL.

:D

6. I had all of mine pulled when I was 19
They were all half bone impacted and had to be sawed out. One of the teeth, my lower right one actually broke while being extracted so they had to cut into my jaw a bit more. Good thing I was high as hell other wise I think I would have been just a bit more tense.

I did hurt a bit afterwards and had some vomiting and nausea due to the drugs. But I really had no problems with infections or anything. But I could only eat liquids and "mushy" foods for two weeks >:(

8. I hear the impactions make the surgery painful.
Luckily, mine weren't impacted. I was suprised that I didn't feel worse after the sedation for the surgery. Every time before, I thought I was going to yack. This time, I just saw double and walked in circles.

:D

9. Maybe because you had your mouth wide open?
I don't know if that's why but I know the whole tipsy feeling isn't that comfortable. I do wish that they added nitrous oxide to it because the sedation wasn't really helping my nerves anyways. I guess it was the noise of the little saw that they had that unhinged me. I hate going to dentists or anyone that does work on the mouth.

10. Those were knee, wrist surgeries.
I do hate having my mouth open. I have this fear that a big flying cockroach will fall in it...lol.

I am glad I found a really nice dentist. The staff always calls and checks the day after anything was done on how I am doing. I thought that was very professional, and added a personal touch. You don't see that too often.

11. I have that fear when I have a pelvic done...
Edited on Fri Nov-03-06 02:29 AM by BlueStorm
That is something to be afraid of!! *shudders*

I don't really have a dentist since I am on disability and the dentists that participate in the Medicaid program are very limited.

14. I am sorry to hear that about the dentists you can choose from.
Is there maybe a website that rates them, that you can find one halfway decent?

:(
