What do you miss?
Simple things I mean

For example: I miss those 750mL glass bottles for Coca Cola or Pepsi.

Cola just tasted better in those.

So, what do you guys miss?

And yes, his inability to see the truth about Bush scared me off.

Joani. I've got that kinda lost feeling too. Had to let a really nice guy go. He has all the qualities I want in a guy. Timing just wrong, and it complicated, and I don't want to explain. It's taking all of my strength to say away from him. Wonder if I'll ever find someone. My heart is healing and it's on hiatus again.

11. I can get Coca-Cola and Pepsi in glass...
and sweetened with sugar, not high-fructose corn syrup (unlike pretty much all US-made soft drinks), pretty easily where I live (a few of the local stores have stuff that's imported from Mexico, and one even has the glass one-litre bottles on occasion). And you're right, the taste isn't the same (thanks to the reaction of the citric acid in the cola with plastic or aluminium).

I miss It's It ice cream sandwiches--local brand in the San Francisco bay area...not available where I am now, unfortunately, which is a shame, because they're damned tasty (especially the coffee ones).

but if I DO run across any sometime soon I'll let you know via PM, if you really want some that badly :D

I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to get it, though...I'm near Atlanta, and the Coca-Cola Co. is trying to crack down on imports of Mexican Coke...they look at it as "bootlegging" that cuts into the profits of their contracted distributors (although if they were SMART, they'd realise that there's a market that they aren't serving, and start making the stuff with cane sugar and putting it in glass bottles here in the States).

18. I know.
The only glass bottles that we can get up here are tiny little things that cost way too frggin much for the quantity. We should set-up a North American petition to Coca Cola to bring back the glass bottles :D

Glass is recyclable, so it's not even bad for the environment.

But then, even the Mexican Coca-Cola I've gotten that HAS been sweetened with sugar (there's a noticeable taste difference) says "sucrose and/or high fructose corn syrup" on the label.

62. If you have a bit more time, try train travel
My husband and I have had good experiences... I traveled across the U.S. and Canada and from S.F. to L.A., also London to Wales. He traveled in Europe, and up the coast of California after his friend's sailboat suffered a broken mast in a race so they couldn't sail home. People seem relaxed and friendly on trains.(well, maybe not commute trains, but you know what I mean)

I know they still make them, but no one around the Detroit area sells them anymore-I went looking for Halloween. I looked at CVS, Meijer, Target, Rite Aid, Walgreens, the Holiday Market (which used to sell them) and a few other places and could not find them.

I like them better than Butterfingers, even though they are similar.

45. I miss old Florida.
The 60's & early 70's Florida that I remember...lots of small coastal towns, skinny two lane blacktops through miles of pine forests, small cinder block motels, bottling your own water from the local spring, people that actually grew up here, wide open beaches where you could let the dogs run and build a bonfire, more fish than you could hope to eat, quiet rivers, and shrimp boats.

Now, it's becoming highways, traffic, tourists, condos, new rules & regulations, and cities full of transplants, even here in the panhandle (which held out the longest). *sigh*

80. Hang in there
Some of the trees out here do have leaves that change colors and fall off. Except you have to wait until January...and the new leaves bud within a month or so. ;)

81. Talking to my Mom.
She's been gone for almost 9 years. This is the time of year I start to think about her a lot. My oldest child was only 4 when she died. My kids are missing so much growing up without a Grandma (my MIL isn't alive either.)

100. me too
I had all my grandparents until I was 16, 3 of them until I was into my 30's. My kids are down to one grandfather and he is sort of an asshole.

The others were all gone more than 10 years ago.

And I miss my Mom.

82. The woods between the graveyard and the playground.
Now it's just 2 ugly houses that nobody really needed. And now if you go to the graveyard at night, the people who live in the ugly houses might see you from out their window.

83. Social interaction with people.
Going out with friends, engaging in conversation ...

While I can't recollect many positive moments whilst burdened with agoraphobia, I can say that once I've recovered sufficiently to feel more comfortable around people, the activities I listed above, which are a normal part of many peoples lives, will be unbelievable to me, an explosion when I look at the pattern of my life these past years.

My first post, so, hello there. Hopefully myself and other members can gain something positive from my contributions.

92. Thank you.
Although I'm undecided on how to properly respond to these greeting messages - if I write, "thank you," "thank you," "thank you," over and over again, it'll feel like postboosting, but on the other hand, I'd feel guilt if I ignored some polite approaches from other members.

lol, my mind is burdened by unnecessary thoughts.

93. Yes, but the bottle itself did make a difference as well.
I can still taste if I buy those tiny glass bottles that cost way too friggin much over here. They are twice the price of a can for a smaller quantity of liquid. Sometimes I allow myself to indulge.

101. Cold weather and walking home from work
I moved to a hot and sticky climate 2.5 years ago and I don't think I'll ever get used to it. I miss wandering home after work on a crisp evening, with my nose turning pink from the cold. I miss scarves and mittens and cute hats and bundling up against the weather. I miss close-toed shoes. I miss socks! I always thought I was a very adaptable person but I don't think someone can adapt to the hot (I mean constant, 24-hour a day, 365 days a year hot) if they grew up in New Hampshire.

*sigh. Cheers to everyone's November in colder climes!
